The conference included big Indiana biotech company leaders and the Indiana big research institute leaders. (IU, ND, Perdue). All said the problem is we educate great new talent and they all get the hell out of Indiana to work in better walkable livable cities (more $$ but also higher salaries).
I attended a conference at the new Elanco building. It really was beautiful and seemed like a great physical place to work but man there’s nothing around it at all and views suck. They really need to recruit and attract young biotech talent, and what an awful place to drive to every day.

I don’t think people should be locked up, but NYC reeks of weed. It’s nasty. And there’s now a weed/vape shop in my residential n’hood where I live. Guess what shop keeps getting its front door kicked in/robbed and now permanently has a plywood door? Looks lovely! Great for the neighborhood! 🙄

I’ve lived in Atlanta, DC, Austin and Boston. Had no idea a city could be this bad. The most frequent thing I heard when I moved here a year ago from locals was, “Sorry.. well, it’s cheap.” They were right. And you get what you pay for.

I’ll also pay more to support police so they can be appropriately staffed, + aren’t burdened w only responding to emergencies + the worst crimes, but can also do community work and basic traffic law enforcement. Drivers here are terrible because the IMPD openly says they do not enforce traffic laws!
👍. And it’s truly not a one side or the other argument. I’ll happily pay more taxes so that we have better and safer road+bike infrastructure and public transportation options (to ease pressure on the high cost of maintaining our terrible road infrastructure.)
I moved to Indianapolis a year ago, and this has been my exact observation. When I moved here, the first thing that local friends typically said was, “Well, it’s pretty cheap and affordable 🤷”. I quickly learned that you get what you pay for.
Hmmm. Just watch heated rivalry (again). Timmy cheeks were … tiny. But good to have in your memory banks, so go for it.
It’s terrible. Exciting, then boring. Had to keep reminding myself what the main character was trying to do. Then remembered… play ping pong… at a tournament he wasn’t even invited to. Most overrated movie of the year.
