As an ER doctor, I treat people when other systems fail. Now, we're watching those systems get dismantled on purpose: 20,000 jobs slashed at HHS. Vaccine and prevention programs gutted. And Congressional Republicans voting to cut Medicaid to fund billionaire tax breaks. 1/10
Public health isn’t partisan. It’s basic humanity. And right now, it’s under attack. Speak up. Organize. Protest. And in 2026, get ready to vote. Because silence is complicity—and people will die if we don’t stop this. /END
We can have a functioning system. But we have to fight for it. That means calling out the lies, rejecting the cruelty, and holding Congressional Republicans accountable—for confirming RFK Jr, for voting to gut Medicaid, and for putting lives at risk. 9/10
You don't notice public health until it’s gone. It’s clean water, vaccine access, prenatal care, food safety, emergency response. Lose that, and you don’t get chaos—you get catastrophe. 8/10
This isn’t some abstract policy debate. Public health jobs are being cut. Medicaid access is being slashed. And millions of Americans—especially in rural and underserved areas—will pay the price with their health. 7/10
The GOP isn’t just slashing budgets. They confirmed RFK Jr.—a man with a history of spreading vaccine misinformation—to lead this health purge. Every Senator who voted to confirm him owns this disaster. 6/10
In the ER, I see the results of these decisions: kids with asthma living in mold-infested apartments, seniors rationing insulin, people coming in with strokes and infections that should have been caught early—but weren’t. 5/10
And what’s it all for? So billionaires and corporations can pay less in taxes. That’s the actual trade: public health for private jets. 4/10
At the same time, the GOP is pushing Medicaid cuts. That’s 90 million people—children, seniors, pregnant women, and low-income families—left without a safety net. It’s a one-two punch: gut prevention, then gut care. 3/10
The Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy will be wiped out. This office leads vaccine education, pandemic response, and disease prevention. Without it, we’ll see more outbreaks, more ER visits, and more preventable deaths. 2/10

Slashing 20,000 HHS jobs is reckless. Pairing that with Medicaid cuts? That’s not reform—it’s sabotage. You don’t “fix” healthcare by gutting its core. People will suffer.

This is fucking cruel. Withholding $300M. That’s 0.004% of the 6.8T budget last year m. They are willing to let 8 million kids die over the next 5 years to save 0.004% of the US budget. How much are we spending on rooms at Mar-a-Lago when he’s golfing?

These assholes voted tonight to cut funding for 2/3 of seniors in nursing homes. They voted to cut funding for 1/2 of the births in the US. They voted to shut down rural hospitals like the one I’ve worked at for 23 years. All for Trillions in tax cuts for billionaires. Unconscionable.

I refuse to be dejected and despondent. We are so much better than those in charge. I have relentless faith in the power of the people. And we at the Committee to Protect Health Care are 40,000 strong; doctors who will not give up on our patients’ need for accessible and affordable healthcare.
About 85% of my cancer patients rely on Medicaid to cover their treatment. Without it, they wouldn’t be able to afford any care. Same with 95% of my sickle cell patients. Medicaid is a necessary service
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) makes recommendations that determine access to vaccines in the US.
The ACIP meeting scheduled for next week is now delayed.
This is how RFK Jr will administratively destroy vaccination programs.
