Almost 60 episodes of the Light Overtime Podcast!
Pretty crazy. Audience is still small but I'm grateful. We also have a discord if you want to join the community.
This episode we talk about my a9III a lot, shooting the northern lights, David and his squad shooting Orehenge in Marquette, and more.
The Buick Reatta under the northern lights in Bath, MI.
a black-throated green warbler perched in a bush with some sunrise-golden light hitting its back.
Definitely my favorite warbler shot I've taken this migration.
Dang, that's sick.

Episode 50?! This one is a doozy if you love birding, camera gear, and nerd shit. Check out our Pod.
One unfortunate issue I see among a lot of people these days is that they all want to be somebodyβ¦ forgetting that most reasonable people who are wish they werenβt. Weβre not built for it. Be no one. Itβs a more peaceful life.
In 2019 I went to Japan for the first time and the entire trip felt like a dream. It's an absolutely spectacular place in so many ways and is worth visiting. I'd like to go back, but I'm not sure it'll be for a while.
I think the major thing that is going to set really nice photos apart from all of the AI art is telling a story with it. If you want to be a good "photographer" in the coming years, tell good stories. A grid full of "bangers" is not good enough. The tech is good enough that everyone is caught up.
I follow who I want
Crazy how good the tele is honestly.
They are pretty and really active fishers. Fun to watch.
So this rumored Sony 400-800mm f6.3-8 G lens could be absolutely insane for wildlife shooters. Who is grabbing this thing if it turns out to be real?

Epic birding this weekend.
Is the a6700 Sony's most underrated camera?
Man, life is pretty buckwild.
Canon 5D classic dslr
Thereβs some magic in this little sensor. Fun 20 year old DSLR.
Playing around with a Canon 5D Classic again really makes me grateful for the modern kit I use. The Canon is still somehow capable of some beautiful images with nothing but a nifty 50. Meanwhile I'm always gasing for the latest and greatest. Photographers. Go try and old weird camera. Fun challenge.
A sphynx cat
A nearly 20 year old DSLR with a preset I made called "Oldboi". This is still a fun full frame camera.
Movie analysis and critique when it gets really granular and tries to be perfectly objective often misses the whole point in that movies are fun and a vibe and I just wanna feel some shit. People gotta chill.
I have loads of experience with the a6300, a6400, a6500 bodies and they all were considerably worse than their full frame counterparts. That is not the case with the a6700. Incredible time to be making things with cameras.
I obviously love the a7RV. It's incredible for most high end photography needs I have and is a decent B or C video cam in a pinch, but it's also a couple thousand more than the a6700... All I'm saying is the APSC line from Sony is reallllyyyy pulling its weight.
Currently renting the A7RV and I just bought the a6700 to test as a C cam. But honestly, I've been running the 24mm f1.4 GM on the a6700 and I really love the files. The A7RV is a professional camera, but for hybrid needs as a second or a third camera, the a6700 is π©π. Didn't expect this outcome.
