After being introduced only yesterday, the hearing is at 3:30 pm today Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the House Agriculture Committee!
If passed, HB 2476 would deny Kansans the right to hold pesticide manufacturers accountable for harm and put corporate profits over our health and environment!
π¨ URGENT ACTION NEEDED IN KANSAS π¨
Kansas lawmakers are considering HB 2476, a dangerous bill that would shield pesticide manufacturers from accountability when they fail to warn people about serious health risks.

We ask that if you find local food and the livelihoods of farmers important, that you support KRC's efforts by donating and sharing resources as we continue to improve the health of the land and its people in Kansas today and for generations to come.
Kansas Rural Center is no stranger to hardship. With a legacy rooted in improving the resilience of Kansas food and farm systems through adversity, there are no plans to end our work despite these challenges.
The termination of the RFBCs, along with the cancellation of other programs like the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) and Local Food for Schools (LFS) programs and massive cuts to the SNAP, leave our domestic food systems and local farmers weaker and more vulnerable.
The bad news is that, along with cutting the support services of Kansas Rural Center and our 31 other partners and collaborators, the second round of funding, $8.3 million, for farms and food businesses in the region has been cut.
Those round one awardees, 25 from Kansas, will now finally be able to proceed with their projects after having their grants paused by the USDA since January, and that's the good news.
Our work with the HRFBC has supported the business needs of farmers and food businesses across Kansas. The first round of Business Builder grant funding, the Heartland Center allocated $3.7 million dollars to support 90 small businesses in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
On Tuesday, we received the very disappointing news that the USDA was terminating the Regional Food Business Centers. The Regional Food Business Centers were created to provide support to local food and farm businesses by providing technical assistance, capacity building, and coordination planning.
Support the Kansas Rural Center as we strive to protect the health of the land and its people for the future! Visit kansasruralcenter.org to learn more about our initiatives, subscribe to our updates, and donate.
