WE DID IT!
A big win for millions of Europeans struggling to rent or buy a home.
The first-ever European Parliament housing report delivers concrete, progressive solutions.
Now it’s time to act and take our solutions on board.
A home is a human right!

Little baby Declan sleeps beside my daughter in a #Dublin hospital. He has been born into #homelessness
That should offend us. Insult us. Shame us all.
Today, after a year’s work @socialistsanddemocrats.eu @labour.ie, we can finally say the #EU is intervening where the market & Ireland has failed

There are over 400.000 homeless children in Europe.
And yet, there are those who tell us that profit must rule.
We cannot accept that - it should offend us, shame us all.
No more housing chaos!
No more homeless babies!
No more shame! ✊

📈 Over the past decade, house prices in the EU have surged by over 60% & rents by more than 20%.
#Housing systems vary between EU countries, but the need for solutions is universal 👇

Early flight to Frankfurt & then onto Strasbourg.
While EU decides whether to stand by international law, we return to #HousingHousingHousing
Year of negotiation comes to a head with vote on EU Housing report.
Our focus is scandal of child homelessness.
Vote is on Tuesday. I’ll keep you posted.

Progress is never given. It is fought for.
Today, the fight continues for women all over the world.
This 8 March is a reminder that women’s rights are human rights.
From equal pay to bodily autonomy, from freedom from violence to the right to be heard - we will not be silent!

To not get a point from those two performances is a heartbreaker.

Más féidir le Feisirí Eorpacha ar fud na hEorpa #Gaeilge a labhairt le linn Seachtain na Gaeilge, is féidir leatsa freisin! (If MEPs across 🇮🇪🇸🇮🇩🇪🇸🇪🇲🇹 can speak #Irish, you should too!)
This #seachtainnagaeilge, let’s speak as much Irish as we can & show everyone that our language is very much alive. ☘️

I changed my name from Aidan O’Reardon to Aodhán Ó Ríordáin when I went to college over 30 years ago.
In my job I attend meetings in different EU member states and the UK.
The ONLY country to routinely misspell my name is Ireland.

Fine Gael must answer for the truly destructive role their group, the EPP, play here in #Europe.
The #EPP teamed up with the far right to block a debate that would have shown solidarity with Pedro #Sánchez and Spain after #Trump ‘s attacks.
I wonder does Simon Harris stand over this decision?

Pedro #Sanchez is the only #EU leader standing up for intl law in #Ukraine, #Gaza & #Iran.
His leadership has proven exactly why we need more social democratic governments in #Europe.
If the Taoiseach goes to the White House next week - and he shouldn’t - he must defend Spain & our entire Union.

Absolutely gutted by that result but if we play that way every game we’ll absolutely be in Brazil next summer.

‘Keep bombing people until they stop talking about the Epstein Files’ is the main plank of U.S Foreign Policy in 2026.

March the 1st!
Loads to get through this month on a whole heap of levels.
Dreaming of this month ending with a final whistle in Lansdowne Road and Ireland qualifying for the Men’s World Cup.
Hope doesn’t kill you.
It keeps you alive!

This photo was on the front page of the Irish Times the day after I lost the 2016 election. It had been a marathon count.
In retrospect it was possibly the best thing that ever happened to me but it didn’t feel like it at the time.
You win and lose but you have to stick to what you believe in.
