Same here. Generation X, well I am anyway. I think we are the best placed generation who were born into an analogue world which made as competent at human interaction and then grew with the digital age. We know both sides.

I've been ambivalent about monarchy for most of my life but the older I get the more republican I become. Most recently I've supported the idea of a much pared back monarchy consisting of the first in line only but this magnificent take down by Andrew O'Hagan has pushed nearer the edge than ever.

The main issue for me is that we've had so long to prepare but we just plough on regardless until eventually it's too late.
I don't disagree with any of that (and you clearly know more than me) but my main point is that we haven't really tried, and we've had decades to prepare.
It just strengthens my belief that humankind's self-destruction (and the destruction of so much else) is built into its DNA.

Me too. The only problem is I told every Scottish friend I have that they would come 5th at best this year because they’re a team in decline and England are on the up. I have been made to eat my words and given up rugby punditry. I clearly know nothing.
As much as England have been so disappointing this #6Nations the fact that 3 teams have a chance of winning it on the final day is fantastic.
