Union members are pushing for 10 days of paid reproductive health leave in the National Employment Standards (NES).
This is 10 days additional paid leave for EVERY BODY.
It would cover anything from prostate checks to menstrual pain, IVF treatments to perimenopause, and many other symptoms or issues

Most European countries now provide more annual leave than we do, Australian workers shouldn't be left behind.

What would you say to more time off?

The standard 4 weeks off for workers hasn't changed for over 50 years, with more workers doing unpaid overtime, it's time we claimed back the time we need to switch off.

Negative gearing will cost the federal budget a little more than $100 billion over the next decade.

According to ATO data, more than 1.2 million Australians have a negatively geared property

We need a tax system that's fair for everyone, and not one that just rewards investors.

If you're taking part in the Mardi Gras Parade today, enjoy every moment.

We’re proud to stand for inclusion, respect, and looking out for one another. Have a great parade.

Little surprise then that the Parliamentary Budget Office has found that 59% of the benefit of the CGT discount goes to the richest 1% (or those earning more than $362,900):

with chart showing the richest 10% get $17.7bn from the CGT discount while the rest get $4bn.

The CGT 50% discount not only distorts the housing market it is also the most inequitable policy you could dream up. (Which is probably why John Howard and Peter Costello did it)

AFR headline stating there are no affordable houses for first home buyers in any city

AFR headline stating there are no affordable houses for first home buyers in any city

The AFR reports there are now no affordable houses for first‑home buyers in any Australian city.

Working full‑time should mean you can afford to live where you work.

The fix is practical: more public housing, stronger renters’ rights, and fair, phased tax reform.
Together, workers can win change.

News article on how CGT benifits the richest, with comment from the ACTU

News article on how CGT benifits the richest, with comment from the ACTU

Treasury data shows most of the CGT discount goes to the top 1%, while workers and young people are locked out of housing.

Reducing the discount to 25% is a fair, targeted reform and helps fund the homes Australia needs.

The Matildas break records.
The prize money doesn’t.

What's more, in the men's tournament, prize money is shared amongst all teams; in the women's, it goes only to the top four. How can we grow the game if the money stays at the top?

We need more public housing and to fix the tax rules that currently reward wealth more than work, so the next generation isn’t locked out.

People who work full-time should be able to afford to live near their job, but for many workers, that’s no longer true.

Housing has become so expensive because the system rewards professional landlords. This is why union members are taking action on housing and on pay.

Our tax rules let professional landlords off the hook while first-time buyers fight with increasing rents and house prices. Tax rules need to change.

Housing is currently the biggest contributor to the cost of living. If the RBA raise rates today, a homeowner will have to pay more, yet professional landlords can raise rents while claiming higher interest costs as tax deductions. We need reform now.

The system is stacked in favour of property investors who are exploiting negative gearing and capital gains tax breaks. It's time for reform to turn houses back into homes.

Better work-life balance improves performance, reduces burnout, and helps employers attract and retain staff. This is how improved work conditions become the norm in Australia, when people join their unions and negotiate for better outcomes, paving the way for change. #4dayweek

Everyone deserves a secure future through affordable housing We cannot continue down the same path of giving investors tax supports while β€˜owning your own home’ gets further out of reach for workers and becomes nearly unimaginable for young workers.

Lets make houses homes again.

Ever feel like you’re competing with someone’s property portfolio, not just other buyers? That’s the professional landlord effect.

Tax concessions for those with multiple properties are making it harder for first-time buyers to get their first home. It's time to fix a broken system.
