Well Canada wasn't as black and white as that. We were established gradually over hundreds of years. I would consider Washington to have been an American from birth but that's your country and your buissness. Canadians were Canadians in 1812 just like we are now.

Were your founding fathers born in Britain or America? Just because we hadn't formed a nation yet, doesn't mean we weren't Canadian. Especially since Ontario was literally called Canada back then lol. Also, Charles lll is still the King of Canada right now, doesn't mean we don't exist.

The American's goal was to conquer us and our goal was to stop them from doing that. No significant border changes means Canads won.

In fairness, I can see why the leader of Canada wouldn't want to go out of their way to piss off Trump right now. Calling Trump out directly is the right thing to do but it also wouldn't actually solve much and could result in Canada getting invaded. I don't agree but I understand the reluctance.

That's kind of my point. It was a tiny, insignifigant frontier country that became the most powerful country in the world. Then it shut itself off and coasted till the 80s when it started to decline because of Reagan.

Open borders is how the US became a world power in the first place. For generations the worlds hardest workers and most innovative minds flooded into America, swelling it's population. Cutting itself off from the world is exactly how America dies.
