Ein großer, dunkler Vogel sitzt seitlich auf einem dünnen, mit Flechten überzogenen Ast vor hellem Himmel. Sein Gefieder wirkt tiefschwarz und leicht glänzend, der Kopf ist nach hinten gedreht, als würde er sich putzen oder nachdenklich über die Schulter blicken. Der Hintergrund ist weich und grau abgedunkelt, wodurch der Vogel dramatisch freigestellt erscheint, fast wie in einem kreisrunden Lichtkegel. Die verzweigten Äste mit kleinen Knospen umranken ihn und verleihen der Szene eine stille, leicht melancholische Stimmung.

The flooding earlier this winter scoured the banks of the Santiam River exposing roots, washed away trees and more. At the bottom of the pic a tiny bit of dead grass, a moss-covered rock on the right, below that a messy tangle of light and dark roots reaching down into the clear water around the smooth dark river rock that line the bottom of the Santiam ☮️
