Hey it's been a sec! I've finally gotten some work out of the finished glaze firing and I'm working on getting some photos taken. There's a lot of sanding in my work so there are other steps before photos. Here's a little "study" I worked on. Super quick but fun!

I had made that plate prior to the flood but I can also only think of what the original potter was thinking or going through from the original plate? In a way I feel connected to the maker simply through the art we've made. It's an idea I want to continue

As most people are, definitely feeling doom. My current effort is changing inner turmoil to some healthy expression. It's not a quick change but every bit of effort matters. I've been thinking of the Vermont flood of 2023 and making it through all of that. ⬇️ (Continued thread)

I had made a skull tile mold recently and it's been super fun to play with sculpting different things on it each time. I'm using a commercial clay for the studs and teeth to give them a different color.

This post has been resonating with me so much. I've realized I am in the habit of "neutralizing" posts to help with algorithms and therefore losing a lot of myself at least on my social media platforms. Blue Sky is a good clean slate to change that!!

Yup I'm working in an old basement right now with no real heat so getting motivation and keeping it is definitely super hard 🤣

Stack of mini bowls from over the summer. Love how they turned out. I'm in the process of making more but the doldrums of winter definitely slow down the process. Can't wait to get firing again soon and hopefully I'll get some tasty pots out soon!

Hand-built studded box made last year. I put a locally sourced clay slip on the exterior and then glazed over top with an off white satin glaze. Fired to cone 10 reduction.

Yeah the nuance of getting everything just right takes a long time, at least it did for me. Plus I change it depending on where my new interests evolve

So I decided once I checked a bunch of boxes off my list. Mainly I wanted a certain color, workability, and primarily maturity at my glaze temperature without issues. I figured it was finished once I could confidently fire it without warping, dunting, or bloating. I'm still tinkering with it though!
