Yay for no humidity, sounds lovely! It looks like next week will be a bit colder here too and honestly I'm glad. It was 86 here today and I'm just not trying to be hot in March because summer is long enough

Well I tested positive for the flu!
I would just start small, slow with short intervals and see how you feel, then work up from there. Even as small as like "run for 10 seconds" (or to that tree up ahead) and then stop or walk. Be mindful of how your breathing and heart rate feels and respect your limits, which will improve over time
I don't run much these days (used to be a track athlete) but when I do, I enjoy running in short bursts/intervals alternated with walking. This could build up to running longer distances if you have that goal. Mostly I love hiking since walking at an incline is pretty good cardio with lower impact
Maybe I should get a flu/covid test. I just had a cold not that long ago that made me feel tired but this feels like a deeper tired plus chills and some other symptoms. But still not as bad so far as I've felt with those illnesses in the past
Now I'm randomly watching a dinosaur documentary
I thought this was going to be one of those marginal stay home from work sick days where I actually do a few household chores and read a book, but it was instead the kind where I stay in bed with my eyes closed most of the day (at least I know I made the right call)
Oh yay! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I love that album.
If you need me I'm just over here in this silly corner of the internet talking about how The Story of Us is about Liz at random opportunities
Since the lyrics are in quotes as something her mom said (my mama told me..."oh my lord never made no one like you before") I think of it as her mom encouraging her when she's feeling down by saying something like "God made you unique, there's no one like you"
I love it too, and the part toward the end "I'm gonna love you when our hair is turning gray, we'll have a cardboard box of photos of the life we've made" always makes me emotional thinking of my grandparents
I just remembered Katelyn Tarver's new album comes out March 6!
Actually still canβt believe the opalite music video is real
Not exactly the same as how you articulated it, but I had a thought that feels similar maybe. As much as our relationship with ourselves is important, we are not islands, and we exist and grow in relationship with others

This is so random but I once googled "Taylor Swift Switzerland Mine music video" because I know that's a good website for reference info, and the Google AI overview explained to me that the Mine music video was in fact filmed in Maine, not Switzerland π
I often think of Taylor as Dorothea, and the song as an exploration of someone else's perspective: what it would be like for someone she used to be close with, who isn't famous, to kind of observe Taylor's life from afar and see her fame rise to meteoric levels and just have this nostalgic wondering
Remember when Taylor sang 'Closer' with Tegan and Sara on the Red tour and had them sing the first verse while she sang the second with the lyrics "all I dream of lately is how to get you underneath me" ...like okay toplor
It's like the evermore x peter mashup! π
I was a math major but this just reminded me that I took a lesbian literature class in college for fun
Though it's just a guess and we'll never know, I will probably always think Taylor took at least a tiny bit of inspiration from Liz's perspective in 'Not Going Anywhere' when writing 'dorothea.' And even if not, it's just fun to wonder about
I think also that we can grow and discover so much much about ourselves *through* relationships (of all kinds, not just romantic) with others, so for me personally it doesn't really make sense to draw a clear line between muses vs. Taylor as her own muse interpretation. I think it's all important
It's funny because the original post was about being annoyed to find out a song they liked was by Taylor Swift. And then this follow-up in the comments
Interesting take from someone outside the fandom π
Which she spelled Hyiannis Port for some reason lol
It's so interested to hear 'Family' talked about since that has been one of the only confirmed vault tracks from reputation for a while, with the same co-writers as Dancing With Our Hands Tied
Any of those sources of inspiration could be considered a muse I think. They are all parts of the human experience and worthy of having art made about them. Romantic love certainly isn't all Taylor's music is about but neither is it less worthy or interesting of a subject than anything else imo
I think Taylor is probably inspired by and writes about all kinds of experiences and relationships, including relationships with romantic muses, friends, family members, herself/different parts of her self or identity, fans, business partners, fame, the industry (plus inspiration from fiction, etc)
Oh this is interesting! For years 'Family' has been one of the only confirmed rep vault tracks, and this is definitely new lore (we knew the song existed, but not what it was about or what had inspired it)
Yeah, I usually think these are a reach π It mostly just seems to be pointing out how a y sound following a t sound (as it "that you") is often pronounced as a /sh/ or /ch/ (as in "gotcha") which is normal and called yod-coalescence in linguistics
I truly love my job most days and I'm grateful for that
This is an appreciation post for the note changes in the acoustic version of Ruin the Friendship
