It makes me so sad that people would use generative AI for art. I don't understand the point of it. Maybe Suno can spit out a facsimile of a competently produced beat quicker than you can learn to mix, but I would rather listen to a thousand wonky, overly earnest human amateurs. Those are fun!

It doesn't have to be complicated, to compose is literally to put stuff together. It's not a high-minded concept at all. Go put some stuff together and have fun with it. Do it with intent, joy and playfulness. Reflect on the effect of your decisions. Congrats! You are now an artist

If you're a record label exec and you hire musicians to create boatloads of songs for you, that doesn't make you a songwriter even though you legally own all those songs. AI is a way to abstract away the labor of the artists whose work makes up the training data.

Effort is not equal to value, of course, but you do actually have to put a lot of intention into the execution of your artistic ideas. You can't just outsource that to generative AI and hope for the same results because AI fundamentally can't intend to do ANYTHING
