That's what I thought. I only mention this because the OP makes it look like this happened at Illinois College, when it didn't.
Is it the Illinois College Republicans or University of Illinois Republicans. Because Illinois College is an entirely different institution.
I wonder if this includes school librarians since a large part of our work is " activities such as misinformation, disinformation, content moderation, fact-checking, compliance and online safety".
I am a K-12 librarian, and my students unequivocally prefer physical texts.
A few do use audio or ebooks (and I am always clear that ALL reading is reading; all books are books), but by an overwhelming majority, they want physical books.
And I am all about having the library the students choose.
