An improvement over the original in every way to the point of making THPS look like a tech demo in comparison. Played this game to death back in the day.

Still to this day one of my, if not my favourite racing game ever. The driving feels really good, and the rest of the game just oozes style. The soundtrack? Go and listen to it right now.

Playing this again I was surprised at how stodgy the controls are, which I became more frustrated with as the career mode (which feels like an afterthought) wore on. Still, I credit these games for having a profound influence on my musical tastes growing up so...
1. AVOWED.
Had a lot of fun with this streamlined action RPG. I enjoyed the smaller, more curated maps; exploring every nook and cranny was always rewarding. Was a fan of Deadfire anyway, but I loved seeing that style realised in 3D. Not spending half the playtime dicking around in menus is a plus.
I keep track of every video game I play in a neat-looking google sheet like a sick, little freak. 🕹️ Might be fun to maintain a thread of the ones I've finished this year (assuming I remember this is here).

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.
