This study highlights how the degree of symplectitisation can be affected by the rock's heterogeneous permeability. Additionally, we found that the fracturing of #omphacite played a key role in their complete replacement by amphibole-plagioclase aggregates.

We used #EBSD and #EPMA to explore the variations in the microstructural features and mineral chemistries of omphacite and amphibole-plagioclase symplectites from the retrogressed eclogite of the Tso Morari region in Indian Ladakh Himalaya.

Be sure to talk to #AGU25 student poster presenters! See someone standing around at their poster, stop and ask them to give you a short overview, and ask a friendly question or two.

It's a good -- and fun & easy -- way to support professional development and skill building in the geosciences. 🧑‍🎓

As Farage gears up for appearing on BBC One about grooming gangs, it is really important that he is called out on it. There have already been inquiries into grooming gangs. Likes of Farage want to make them about race, they aren't, and trying to pretend otherwise allows other offenders to carry on 👇

Ready for some more interesting facts about earthquake magnitude?

Each whole number increase in magnitude is a 10x increase in the measured amplitude (size of earthquake waves recorded on a seismometer), but represents 32x more energy released.

This video gives a visual demonstration.

Ammonite is much loved in Japan. The logo of the Paleontological Society of Japan is an ammonite. For the most people, a fossil = an ammonite fossil.

Anyway here’s a cheerful piece about how the Sun will eventually destroy all life on Earth (but not by exploding, so, you know, there’s that)

It should not escape our attention as to how few FRS are women (11%!), but yet it took a woman to set an example.
