The real price that is paid is that this rhetoric will continue to increase bias, violence, and the deaths of our trans siblings - who only want to live their lives fully and authentically - with absolutely no harm to you.
YOU are the ones creating the stigma that is harmful. /7
whether they havenβt met a trans person to learn about their experience and be able to see them as fully human and just as they are supposed to be or because they have latched onto the intentional fearmongering being pushed out and canβt seem to use individual critical thinking skills /6
While they are playing political theatre to continue to polarize, separate, and divide the people in this country - those who understand the experience of our trans siblings (at least as best we can since we havenβt journeyed through that ourselves) and those who donβt understand /5
They know that this isnβt an actual cause for concern. If they actually cared about the safety of children and everyone else, there are plenty of actual threats they could do something about - we all already know what that is - yet SILENCE, well aside from those hollow thoughts and prayers. /4
Our trans siblings want to use the restroom safely and in peace just like you do. That is all.
Whatβs even more infuriating is that this whole situation is being used as a political stunt - to stoke fear into people about βthe other.β/3
Maybe your finger pointing should turn away from those you fear because you just donβt understand their life experiences and focus on the pastors, priests, little league coaches, and all the others that are the actual people causing the harm to children, women, and men. /2
Buckle up. I think some of you need a reminder: itβs not trans women or trans men that are harming people in the restrooms they use that align with their gender identity - both inside and out. Actual predators will find a way to harm people of all ages if they went to in whatever means they can. /1

There are really hard things happening all around us, and I know we want to comfort those who are hurting, but please resist the urge to respond to tragedy with trite platitudes like... βThis is all a part of Godβs plan.β βNothing happens outside of Godβs will.β βEverything is orchestrated by God for his glory.β These arenβt helpful and they also arenβt true. God is not omnicausal. I believe God is omnipotent, but claiming that God causes all human actions, including evil, is a perversion of sovereignty and incompatible with Godβs core characteristic of love. From the opening pages of Genesis we see God allowing humans to make our own choices and go our own way. In doing so, we have often given into the influence of evil and chosen to hurt ourselves, others, and Godβs creation. A good deity cannot cause evil. If a deity causes evil, then it is not good. To put it simply: God is either omnibenevolent or omnicausal, but God cannot be both. This doesnβt mean God isnβt working in the brokenness and it doesnβt mean God isnβt redeeming the pain. God doesnβt orchestrate every event, but he does do two things: 1. Enters into the suffering with us through Jesus. 2. Defeats evil with sacrificial love and ultimately repairs the brokenness caused by it. In difficult times like these, letβs place our hope in those truths.
