Repeated Reading
The children should practise repeating the same text a set number of times until they reach a suitable level of fluency. Echo reading, choral reading and paired reading are just some of the strategies that can be used.
Pupil Practice
The children need opportunities to read the same text aloud, attempting to use the same appropriate pace, expression and phrasing that was modelled by the adult.
Adult modelling:
Make the implicit explicit by reading the text aloud to the class using the appropriate pace, expression and phrasing.
