it is times like these I am grateful my parents were so strict with me when it came to reading/writing. We didn't get cable until well into my older years and my parents' took me to the public library multiple times a week - to this day I like to read.
Sadly, I worry for the next generation.

one girl's interpretation made so much sense I was genuinely appalled like... that didn't even cross my mind when writing this but I can 100% see why you saw it that way. I dunno, I think that's kind of cool.
last year I got a short story published in a magazine/journal and my university made an announcement about it so some of my classmates ended up reading it and it was interesting to hear what they thought the story was about since I left it purposely vague/open ended.
I think the most beautiful thing about art is the fact that it can get misinterpreted... Like obviously it sucks when someone thinks you're condoning something you're condemning but outside of that I just think it's cool how art can change so much depending on different people's interpretations

literally started writing a novel because as much as I love sci-fi why are there so few character-driven narratives in the genre? I'm tired of the community getting a bad rap for sidelining characterization in favor of worldbuilding and plot.
random follow-up on this. I ate a mint last week that had a very similar taste so it's definitely, like, one ingredient/chemical that lower-quality candy companies are using to make these atrocious affronts to human taste.
saw an autistic girl at the library with a speech therapist and at one point she said something "sassy" even though I knew it was a genuine question and in a crazy turn of events the therapist was actually nice/regulated about it. I'm really glad to know that exists bc that was def NOT my experience

experience gratitude, joy, and peace even with the knowledge that those things were upsetting. Bad memories will always be bad memories to some degree. Having a hard time talking about them isn't a sign of "not being over it" it's actually just a normal reaction to recalling a bad experience.
