“Thank God [Afzal] reached out to me,” Morrison said. “No one should need to have an elected official have to further someone’s voice when their constitutional rights are being impeded on. I’m glad I was able to help in this moment.”

Huge thank you to everyone who showed up to Broadview yesterday afternoon to demand answers and accountability from DHS. Together, we amplified our voices, and I am so grateful that my friend and the others who were detained have been released. Now, the fight continues for transparency and justice.
“This is ridiculous,” Morrison said. “Clearly this administration does not do a lot of forward thinking and does not deal well when they’re caught in sticky situations,” he told WBBM.

Morrison said Naqvi walked walked and hitchhiked to a hotel after being released from the detention center in WI.
Naqvi's sister Sarah Afzal also said the WI facility denied she was ever held there.
(I was told the same thing when I called the WI facility in the wee hours of Saturday morning.)
Morrison emphasized that federal immigration agents lied, repeatedly changing their story about Naqvi and her colleagues' status. He added she was released to the street in Wisconsin and that as of right now, she still has not gotten her passport back.

He gives a timeline of Naqvi's ordeal, saying he believes she and the others were moved from Broadview on Friday night after texts sent to her phone were read but not responed to.
