Online polling has been shown time and time again to be an indirect form of push-polling. That is, you have to be aware of the site and visit the site in order to register your opinion. For example, the magazine "Guns & Ammo" always (surprisingly) has polls which come out in favor of gun ownership.
Can they reach you to get your opinion when an out of state unknown number calls? They can't reach most of us that way. Which makes who they can get to answer and take a survey to be very very 'special' non-typical folks indeed. And the +/- 3% requires that everyone is equally reachable.
