Painted up a beast of a Techmarine, finished the other day. Finecast with all its problems, and so many spindly arms. But it's done (absent varnish) and joins my 2nd edition Blood Angels army even though the sculpt is from a few editions later.

I recommend Gothghul Hollow for a recent Warhammer book that both gets Gothic Horror the genre and how people want to read about people and their messy lives and relationships. (Sadly no lesbians though, that would be the Lelith Hesperax book that's also good at it!)

It's sadly very rare...

This is also how he was portrayed in some of the earliest Star Wars novels that were set before IV. Pretending to be a scoundrel, but whenever anyone needed help he'd drop everything including a pay day to help out.

In general musing, it's really nice to be back to working on minis at least a half hour a day for most days. It's calming and focusing, and also ends up with art and game pieces at the end of it.

Taking some time for myself has been pretty important recently as everything else in my life is so busy

Finished up my copy of Lexicanum Varus, a special edition Terminator librarian from a few years back. Started painting it back then, but the model is now complete. With Dark Angles badge instead of Ultramarines, though will be with my Blood Angels.

Finished up an old Space Marine chaplain. I've had this model since 1997 or so, and recently decided to give it a new paint job to join my 2nd edition era Blood Angels army.

The right shoulder pad and plasma pistol are probably 3rd edition era.

One of my favourite minis. When I was young, my dad got and painted a copy of this one. One of the best paintings he did.

I'd love to get a fresh copy to give my own take on it some day.

Sometimes I miss Ral Partha, and then I remember Iron Wind Metals still has a lot of the old catalogue.

I'll be getting some fun faction and battle shots soon.

And my Warzone Eternal project is complete, with two Cartel Agents and one downed Archangel pilot complete.

With the Cartel Agents being duplicated, I painted one for my Bauhaus force, and one for my Capitol force.

I live in a place that hits both -40C and +40C during the year, many years. At that kind of range, and easily knowing the "freezing" breakpoint, and, like, the feeling of the weather changes at 0, and every 5 or 10 degrees C... It's natural for here.

There's so much *around* the game that probably got in its way, but the game itself was good!

I ended up getting the whole lot of it. I should pull it out again and give it a spin (even as I prep my Warzone Eternal minis... Every game is awesome!)

I'm going to go with a more obscure one that I feel is pretty underrated: the Mutant Chronicles collectable miniatures game.

I get why it ended up not really getting success, but it was easy to play, the minis weren't bad, and the force building was pretty simple for the customization it gave.

GorkaMorka introduced it, right at the tail end of 2nd, also when the aesthetic changed dramatically

Gunpla is tangentially related hobby, and I find the differences in kit structure fascinating. Also did you know there's a Gunpla minis wargame coming out this year? It might be on a board but still. Minis Gunpla

Mostly painted Black Widow company painted by Airylan. The company composition matches that in the original Black Widow source book, except I'm short a Rifleman and a Stinger. They're made up of a metal Griffin, mostly new plastics, and some old PlasTech. They're painted black with red markings.

Marduk Sedras and a Dark Angels unique plasma squad painted by Airylan. They have predominantly black armour. The squad is highlighted with greens though to evoke the modern 40k scheme.

Dark Angels land speeder Javelin for Horus Heresy painted by Airylan. As the RavenWing, it's highlighted with greys to keep the black tones. It's also got white and red detailing.

A D&D mini painted by Airylan for her fiancée. It's a bird person, based on a raven's colourings. So lots of black, but bluer tinged than you would expect. She's wearing blackened metallic full plate armour and a skirt which has a black to white gradient for shadows to highlight.

I don't do *much* black but I do do *some*. Have a mostly done Black Widow company for BattleTech plus Marduk Sedras and some other Horus Heresy Dark Angels, and finally a D&D mini painted for my fiancée.

2:1 ratio is the first overtone in the overtone series, and since natural sounds also tend to create the first undertone at half the frequency, what you get from the same instrument ("properly" tuned) playing an octave is pure reinforcement of the same overtone series.

(Reality isn't so simple)

I hear you. I aim to have two forces at least for each game I want to play. Which lets me provide for new friends.

Which since one of the games is Warhammer Fantasy with its 150+ model armies...

It's very good that that hasn't been there in years at this point. Two whole editions without it.

Not only did I once use Gentoo, I did also compile from scratch by hand for a while.

There's a reason I don't anymore...

But now I have to reconsider using Linux and wonder how I want to install it...
