I think if an NBA team really committed to it -- like the express purpose of a specific game was to get one player as many points as possible -- Wilt's record could fall. Would it be real basketball? Not really. But I'm picturing the Warriors getting Steph like 70 shot attempts in his last game.
If you have already allowed 148 points and you are fouling every defensive possession because you donβt want one dude to get the ball, you deserve to have 80+ scored on you.
The Wizards challenging multiple plays down by 40 because they donβt want Bam Adebayo to keep scoring is extremely hilarious and more embarrassing than giving up the points.
*Helen Lovejoy enjoying the taste of an ice cold Michelob ULTRA, brought to you by DraftKings, does not want to be a negative influence on the kids. Please call FanDuel for the latest odds on when the next benches-clearing brawl will commence, presented by Giannis Antetokounmpo's Kalshi account.
(Also think it's extremely weird a bunch of words by a very non-descript player most people have never heard of seems to have triggered this? Since when does a guy 9th on his own team in minutes have this much pull lol)
I am far from the person to point it out but as Miles Bridges plays every night on a team it is trying to market as a great story, the NBA wants you to know it Really Cares About Women β’οΈ
Hell of an ACC Tournament Championship Game today, with Duke beating Louisville 70-65 in the event's first overtime title game since 2009. Wrap for Raleigh N&O:

Jeff Walz immedietely took the blame for Louisville's ACC Tournament title game loss today, saying he should've taken a timeout before the 10-second violation.
I don't think Kim Mulkey is wrong about conference tournaments not being valuable for high-level schools and the regular season championship being the true measure of a league's best team. Might be the only Mulkey opinion on anything I share. However! Still funny watching her lose in one every year.
"If the committee does their job, I feel very confident.β
UNC WBB head coach Courtney Banghart was adamant her team will earn a top-16 spot in the NCAA Tournament, even after today's loss. Tar Heels entered today 19th in NET and have just four Q1 wins.

ACC women's tourney semiinal thriller today as Duke survived three Notre Dame shots on the final possession to win 65-63. For the Raleigh News and Observer:

Not enough in the tank for Clemson women' basketball today in a 14-point loss to No. 1 seed Duke, but Shawn Poppie still believes his team has done enough to earn an NCAA Tournament bid.

On this womenβs conference tournament weekend I gave to throw it back to 365 days ago and the most confounding piece of sports memorabilia I have ever seen:
"You probably don't even know what Dukes of Hazzard is, do you?" -- Kara Lawson, out of context.
Also caught up with Syracuse General Manager Mykala Walker, a Duluth, Ga. native working in a newly created role as part of a bounceback season for the Orange:

More ACC Tournament from yesterday:
Watched some of the action in the stands with fans, including a few local girls high school basketball coaches who brought their teams, to get their take on the event coming down here:

That entire first half felt like Hannah Hidalgo was struggling to get to her spots or really get into the flow of the game and then you look up and she's got 14 points, five boards, three steals and a couple assists lol.
For The State: Clemson WBB wore down Virginia at the ACC Tournament, a game Shawn Poppie said they approached as win-and-in for the NCAA Tournament.

Strongly advocating for a WNBA style reset timeout to hit college basketball. Nothing wrong with advancing the ball but we don't need to stop the game for a minute every time a team wants to inbound from halfcourt in crunch time.
Ah yes, overtime in game one when you're there to cover a later game, the surest sign that it is in fact, March.

Really weird! Kinda canβt believe this is even a thing!
It's gonna be Sarah Strong and like, I get it, but I think if I had a WBB NPOY vote I'd go with Mikayla Blakes. There is just....nothing to do with her when she gets downhill.
"I could never have imagined it."
Talked to a few Gwinnett County natives about how unlikely and special a home conference tournament is for a league that has exclusively done this in the Carolinas for almost 50 years:

On the tournament itself coming to Duluth, some info on the student ticket program, the local high schools the teams will be practicing at and more:

A newspaper sports cover with multiple stories about the ACC womenβs basketball tournament
For my metro Atlanta people (specifically Gwinnett County), a large print section today all about the ACC womenβs basketball tournament coming to Duluth, with a couple stories from yours truly. Support your local newspapers!
Breezy win for the Cards tonight, and still a chance at a regular season ACC championship.

Cards up 36-24 at the half. The 20 Louisville points off 15 Georgia Tech turnovers are pretty much the beginning, middle and end here.
