We found that the Yukon Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) is subject to ATIPPA and recommended that the Department of Health and Social Services (HSS) re-process an access request to include any responsive records held by the CMOH. HSS accepted our recommendations.

We are currently reviewing their Privacy Impact Assessment to ensure it aligns with the Yukon Health Information Privacy and Management Act and will pass along any recommendations to the Yukon government as required.

Currently the Yukon Ombudsman and Commissioner cannot investigate municipalities. Over the years, he has requested the same authority found in the majority of Canadian jurisdictions. One of these changes would include municipalities under his jurisdiction.
