It’s so cool how we’re in a large-scale military conflict and the President is spending his time building a ballroom.
This rocks. I finally know what being a Roman must have felt like.

At target, in the toys section, of course.
M16 becomes the primary US Military service rifle in 1964, based off of the Armalite AR-15.
It's a distinct gun, for sure - which is why it's a little surprising to see it as a fucking Nerf rifle - FortNite branded no less.
If you aren't paying for it, you are the product, a product is being sold to the worst person you know.

After learning about Meta's planned facial recognition feature for their Ray-Ban smart glasses, called Name Tag, I've decided to delete my entire presence on their platforms, and wrote 2,500+ words on maybe you might want to as well -

“In San Francisco the world automatically assumes that instead of wanting food or drinks or a new phone or car, what you want is some kind of arcane B2B service for your startup. You are not a passive consumer. You are making something.” —Sam Kriss

I got so mad after listening to today's Vergecast that I sat down and wrote 2,000 words.
I went though the whole of grad school never being able to focus enough to do that and I think it's some of my best writing to date.
Excited to share, it's spicy.

Absolutely amazing show at the Renwick gallery in DC. All about state fairs and American craft - one of the best curated exhibitions I've ever seen.

At the risk of anthropomorphizing them futher - if a random guy was walking past my house a dozen times a day with 4 cameras strapped to him, I'd be pretty concerned about what he's using those cameras for.
For instance - the data collected by these robots could be used in the exact same way as the company Flock. They're perfectly situated to read license plates of cars, and the only thing that would need to change to enable that is a bit of software in the companies servers.
Normalizing private delivery drones (which is what they are) on public sidewalks sucks.
As it stands, the public has absolutely no promises that the information they collect is held in a secure way, and that the company has any sort of responsible privacy policy.
They are the property of large companies that are actively trying to get rid of one of the few remaining jobs for younger people and immigrants - delivery work. On top of that, these things are rolling surveillance machines, with at least 4 cameras on each.

Was going through old photos and found one where I was working on my i3 build in 2015, and guess who's tutorials I was watching to help with the process.
You.
You are filled with high capacity batteries.
5G networking equipment.
Cameras.
High torque motors.
Screens and drivers.
Heaters.
Wiring.
High traction wheels.
Lidar scanners.
LEDs.
And many, many other components I could make much better use of.

It has been heartening to see the number of people that have been dunking on this atrocious design.
What a 12 year old would think would be cool.
Just fucking call his bluff. Oh, you're gonna send troops everywhere? Gonna do Zero Dark Thirty on random Chicago apartments? With what money, bozo?
