I used to have this homophobic friend who really liked Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and after we'd all finish laughing at the Kieran Culkin bits he'd sigh and say "ah he's so gay!". Like everyone else just liked Culkin's performance and material and the extent to that frend's enjoyment was "lol gay".
