I've noticed how the accusation of "trauma dumping" is almost always leveled at women. It used to mean something but now is just more bias against survivors.

Part of growing up is realizing that the men who raped me were not grandiosely evil, but rather pathetic and weak. It's strange to look back at them and see my own intellect and inner power so thoroughly eclipse them.

Imagining rape as merely a violation in consent, puts the onus of the crime on the victim. We are the ones who decide whether or not to consent. But if we accept that what Gaiman did was wrong because it was an act of violence, then we see the truth -- Gaiman committed the rape.

But frankly fuck this. It does not reflect my experiences as a survivor. While I was being raped, I never once thought about consent. I felt agony, fear, and physical pain.

When I was violently raped in college, my rapist framed it as "non-consenting BDSM." And so when talking about the violent strangulation that occured, nobody cared about what I had actually gone through-- torture. Only about the bureaucratic misstep on the part of my rapist.

The growing acceptance of "consensual" sexual torture just turns what would be clear rape, assault, and battery into a mere slip up in the bureaucracy of acquiring consent, and therefore much more excusable. It is no longer the violence and degradation that shocks us, but lack of excusableness.

In response to the Neil Gaiman abuse-- honestly I'm tired of how rapists and out culture have used "BDSM" language to lie about what is really sexual torture.

Sometimes I just feel so useless as victim of child rape. I feel like I have no soul and no story and that my body belongs to the man who raped me and made child p*rn of me. I am just human filth, forever. There are probably still people enjoying the videos, even while I cry. I am so lonely.

I hate the blank-face beauty standard. Like why do models always pose without making any facial expression? Humans emote. Emotion is beautiful. Music or poetry without emotion is garbage. Why is it art on a human face?

This is such a good point and it makes me feel pretty guilty for sharing the picture of him smiling and sending it to all my friends. I didn't realize when I did it that it would help him be caught. I assumed the police were working with some kind if high tech magic.

Was anyone else told that "hate" was a bad word as a child? My parents made me say "strongly dislike" instead.

Men do not buy the majority of books, because in general men prefer more immediate gratification than women, and spend more time on porn and video games. So the demand for male books is down. This is not because of bias in publishing, but simple supply and demand.

Here's the real problem: Men as a whole don't read. When I was in high school, I started a book club. Almost everyone who joined was a girl. I was also an English major. 90% were girls. We read reading lists full of male authors.

The New York Times published an editorial on the great tragedy of declining numbers of male authors. As if the industry of Cormac McCarthy and DFW should cater to them even more.

Only white men get to be aesthetically working class in this country. The rest of our interests, no matter how class bases they may be, are seen as distractions.

My father took the national geographic DNA test and found that he was 4% neanderthal and 4% denisovan and that in total, 8% of his DNA was non homo sapien. Ive never heard of anyone having more than that. He looks completely normal, and doesn't have a brow ridge at all.

I literally can't with how perfect he is. And the reason he was smiling was because the front desk person told him let me see your smile lol

Many places other than America are also bad and oppressive. The people there are just as bad and unenlightened and cruel. But you can't do much about that. You can, however, try to improve your own country.

Only the most privileged even have the option of leaving. And they are precisely the people who need to stay.

You don't have to think this country is the greatest in the world. You can even hate it. But hate it or love it, it is your home. And if your family colonized, enslaved and oppressed people here, you must stay and try to mitigate that harm.

I know a lot of people who want to move to Canada or Europe because of Trump. And I get that people are scared, but also, if you can survive staying, you should. We have a moral obligation to our community and our country's people not to abandon them.

I agree. If we did not have anger, we wouldn't be human.

My best friend is a trans woman and it is such a blessing to watch her become herself and bloom through transition. Very rarely in life do we get a chance to see someone's spiritual inclinations become material reality. Her transition seems like art, and I am so grateful to witness it.

Why did he simply use the free market to survive?

I'm sure he could've afforded private security.

Seems like a failure at capitalism imo

Every day companies like this look millions of suffering, injured, sick and dying people directly in the eye and tell them to go fuck their mother.

Actually that's not true they just press a button or let an algorithm decide, they don't look people in the eye.

I hope that the shooting increases fear among executives who make their fortune from human suffering. If you live by the sword you die by the sword. If you live from human misery may you die from it.

Honestly sick of hearing Democrats defend Biden's Hunter Biden pardon. Like okay, I'm glad one person was able to be saved. But Biden has a notoriously poor clemency record. Where are the pardons for all the black men convicted of similar offenses as Hunter? What about women having miscarriages?

Hard disagree. If we can't allow ourselves anger about Fascism, we can't fight it.

This reminds me of when people say that even women who are not mothers, are "mothering," like mothering the earth, or friends, or other's children. But why do we insist on calling it "mothering"? A woman can do something useful, good, or admirable without "mothering."
