they're not really for picking + choosing though, more like a big bundle you have to then look through
maybe check out subscription services like soundly - should have everything you need for good value + low commitment

i think the main thing it brings is instant functionality for common audio needs/systems. biggest example imo is music - entirely possible in UE but much simpler to design and navigate in middleware. things like crossfades, transitions, etc. also. i'd say overall it's time- + effort-saving :)

early experiments with occlusion and distance-based switching between 3D and 2D 'radio' for dialogue. hoping to scale to lethal company-esque proximity voice chat, especially with the static sfx on death >:)
