@lkatfield.bsky.social’s FURIOUS MINDS is the best intellectual history of the men (and they are overwhelmingly men) jockeying to fill in the void where actual goals and principles would be with this President. Brilliant book and a reminder why intellectual history is such a vital project

Definitely a case where the enemy of my enemies is still my enemies. But it is a reminder that the left’s unwillingness to take seriously the intellectual currents of modern conservatism means they are often fighting last year’s model while the fight has moved into an entirely new framework.

It took me far too long to realize that, for all their profound differences and even fundamentally different goals, the conservative intellectual movements that have coalesced uneasily around Trumpism share at their core a deep loathing of neoliberalism.
