A tweet that reads βThe new academic wealth gap isn't your university. It's not even your advisor's connections. It's who knows Claude can turn 50+ research papers into a thesis chapter in 3 hours and who's still manually coding qualitative data. I just watched a sociology PhD skip 8 weeks of analysis. Here are the 9 prompts they used:β
fuck this so much
we are so not prepared for the mountain of dogshit βscholarshipβ about to flood journals everywhere
For concerned OSU folks (current and alums) who want to know more reach out. I am happy to share all I know
It's been a rough couple of years at Ohio State. In my role I have a front row seat & Iβve been so impressed by the people working to help in a time of change & crisis: students, staff, faculty, & admins. I donβt agree with every decision but I respect deeply the integrity of the people making them
It is very odd. Lav mics are designed for a specific purpose β to be clipped to a shirt for someone being interviewed on a talk show, sayβ not for pushing in someoneβs face. There are direction hand held mics built to do the work but for some reason these tiktoobers donβt think they look cool

Iβm looking for group therapy. Someone told me this is the place?
It is a good question. I searched with no luck. Not even saying I find the idea that someone in the IDF might have said it, but it is only sourced to other unsourced social media posts
Post on X by Tom Cotton: "Tom Cotton @SenTomCotton X.com Iran has been an imminent threat to the United States for 47 years. The president was right to act."
47 years is a lot of "imminence" .

βExterminate all the brutesβ
βpretending to care for Jewish Americans to deflect from their own open-faced antisemitism, to kindle hatred in parts of the population that imagined themselves immune, and to bring credulous Zionist Jews into the lionβs den, as if this time surely the ravenous beast truly was reformed 2/2
antisemitism is the original mould for all identity-based dehumanization regimes to follow. Always it has served as a tool of power and for the redirecting of rage of a disempowered populace. The current βconcernβ of the New Right with βanti-Semitismβ is but a twist of the old playbook 1/2
On another day of war and bombs and fascism, take shelter in Buddy Guy and Miles Canton's Tiny Desk Concert:
Wait. You donβt get paid for this? Why do you keep billing me then??
In the 1940s conservatism was a discredited brand due to cuddling with fascism & embrace of big money interests. In Buckleyβs GOD AND MAN AT YALE they discovered higher education & a new consensus conservatism was born. Todayβs βnew rightβ today is using the same playbook for far more radical ends.
Oh thatβs easy: itβs a midwesterner disease. We say ope sorry when we get punched in the face
Sorry, I am a blabbermouth to begin with and I have become a bit fixated on this history lately π
Like the Left, these thinkers on the Right all reject the idea that market freedom alone is a sufficient organizing principle for a civilization. What they can't agree on is what dominant power comes next: God, Nation, Natural Right, or the Sovereign CEO. 5/5
For Hazony's NatCons, neoliberal globalism undermines national interests and sovereignty. Thiel and the techlords, by contrast, see democracy as a failed startup and neoliberalism (of which they are the beneficiaries) as having produced a bureaucratic class that stifles innovation and freedom. 4/5
With the Cold War's end, market logic was untethered, & self-dealing globalists ravaged traditional values & national interests. For the post-liberal catholics, neoliberalism is just end-stage liberalism. The cancer is liberal individualism from Locke to the present; the cure is integralism. 3/5
The postwar Buckley/Reagan conservative consensus depended on a bargain: free markets, strong national defense, & traditional values would reinforce each other. The various strands of the new right (from 80s paleoconservatives to the dominant traditions today) all claim that this bargain failed 2/5
My understanding is still muddy, but growing more limped as I read @lkatfield.bsky.social, @adambecker.bsky.social, @quinnslobodian.com, @yanisvaroufakis.bsky.social, @gilduran.com, @davidaustinwalsh.bsky.social and others. When I come up for air I need to reconstruct a proper bibliography 1/5

@lkatfield.bsky.socialβs FURIOUS MINDS is the best intellectual history of the men (and they are overwhelmingly men) jockeying to fill in the void where actual goals and principles would be with this President. Brilliant book and a reminder why intellectual history is such a vital project
Definitely a case where the enemy of my enemies is still my enemies. But it is a reminder that the leftβs unwillingness to take seriously the intellectual currents of modern conservatism means they are often fighting last yearβs model while the fight has moved into an entirely new framework.
