I haven’t been at a loss like this in the aftermath of a crash since Asiana 214.

Probably very different circumstances here, since Asiana was eventually explained as “bad piloting crashed perfectly functional airplane.”

No logical reason a 737-800 ends up in this scenario that I can think of. There will be many factors to sort through. RIP to the lost.

A very pointy ridgeline, with many different peaks jutting up into the air. Below are some grassy meadows in the sun, with a line of people visible hiking across. Below are steep slopes and above some clouds disappearing into the blue sky.

In July I visited the Dolomites for the first time for a week of hiking. Absolutely blown away by the scenery - truly superb. This is a much-photographed place that you can reach by cable car, although we did hike up to get there! It's called Seceda Ridgeline.

Early to mid December is 100% the best time to go on holiday because it’s Christmas when you get back so you don’t get all depressed being back home!
