My overall take on discourse is that everyone, including journalists, is entitled to their opinion, criticism often looks unfair to those on the receiving end, and professional politicians worry much less about NYT headlines than Bluesky posters think…

That Republican talking point IS out there and so Democrats need a good response to it, which they do, and so it’s good to ask the question and platform Murphy’s response. I’m not in Tapper’s head, I don’t know what he thinks, but I think it’s irrelevant here.
Have you considered that his question sets Murphy up to deliver his message very efficiently and that might be on purpose?

I understand the Democratic Party’s talking point, but the attack on Iran is not bad just because he did not get congressional approval.
It is bad because, in decreasing order of importance, it kills innocent civilians, risks destabilizing the Middle East, and is against international and U.S. law.
