a while back i threatened to share this. finally online
for detection tasks we often systematically estimates sensitivity wrong. we need to control for unequal variance in models, but we often don't coz it needs extra data
now there's a virtually 'free' way to do it

Just wrapped up our amazing CODE intermediate meeting at @bcbl.bsky.social in San SebastiΓ‘n π!
Our PhD students shared their progress, and we got to hear incredible keynotes from Silvia Lopez-Guzman, MΓ‘tΓ© Lengyel, and Robbe Goris. So many great conversations! Excited for whatβs nextπ!

Happy to share our work on unconscious working memory!
Using visual ensemble methods + 2IFC paradigm across two experiments, we address key methodological challenges in measuring awareness! @dsotob.bsky.social

hello - we're looking for a postdoc / staff scientist to do NHP fMRI work at the center (cnir.ibs.re.kr). pls email cv to hakwan@skku.edu to learn more
thanks! we are hoping to update it very soon with more functionality using MindSimulator and share the software

DecNef is a powerful tool for brain modulation, but it remains difficult to optimize; we built DecNefLab, a simulation framework using βvirtual subjsβ as ML generative models to prototype protocols before exps, & showed conditions in which DecNef fails to induce learning

Clever behavioural experiment exposing how confidence is formed in visual perception

@aliekhlasi.bsky.social has been doing some brilliant work on domain adaptation approaches to characterizing the nature of higher order representations. Please come see our work at @sfn.org this year!
Glad to see my first-year project is out!
In two experiments, we manipulated multiple stimulus features in a perception task, yet their effects on confidence and accuracy fell into just two distinct behavioral patterns, offering a way to predict the effects of novel stimulus manipulations.

We found that children have robust object recognition abilities that surpass many ANNs. Models only outperformed kids when their training far exceeded what a child could experience in their lifetime

The call for commentaries on our BBS paper is out now (deadline October 15): shorturl.at/Hu3Yu. In the paper (shorturl.at/4Rbk6), we provide recommendations and outstanding issues about designing experimental paradigms, analyzing data, and reporting the results of studies on unconscious processing π
Absolutely incredible work led by @patxelos.bsky.social and @dsotob.bsky.social - such a compelling case of unconscious perception! Privileged to have been a little part of this π§

1/Preprint Alertπ: Across two experiments plus a computational model, we show the visual system compresses complex scenes into summary statistics that can guide behavior without conscious access to the task-defining features. We term this the Ensemble Blindsight effect.
BBS just issued the call for commentaries, and we would LOVE to get yours!! The deadline is October 15th, and the reference number is BBS-D-24-00489R2. Looking forward to hearing what you think about our suggestions for how to study unconscious processes!
