Huh, I feel like I usually run into the opposite issue in romcoms, where the characters are being such enormous assholes (esp the MMCs) that I struggle to stay invested. Especially if they’re at all assholish to each other.

I’ve always heard the “raises blood pressure” thing and been baffled, having been eating 4-5x the rec’d amount for decades now, and all of my blood pressure struggles involve it being too LOW. I did however recently hear that people with ADHD may need a much higher intake? So that’d explain it, lol.

I think “likely” undersells it tbh. He set it up so they were all but guaranteed to kill each other, IMO.

I unfortunately think times have proven that some people are simply incompatible with civilized society and cannot be rehabilitated. We need to be able to protect ourselves and others from these people. Incarceration undeniably has its issues, but I don’t see any realistic way around that point.

Something like 85% of adults saw the actual video, so being extra charitable and assuming the entire 15% that didn’t are among the 27% that’s still ~1 in 9 who watched that video and decided it was fine.

Atmosphere-wise, today really feels like a M*A*S*H New Years episode. Just the ultimate vibe of “well that year sucked and the next year will probably suck too, but at least we have each other and maybe we can make it suck slightly less? Fingers crossed.”

Seems to be common! My husband was on a jury for a murder case a little while back and it ended up being a hung jury. According to him the dude definitely hid a body but that was all the prosecutors actually managed to prove (and they were not charging him with that!)
