In episode 8 of Things We Threw Away focuses on the plaster cast in the Allard Pierson Museum of the Lion’s Horoscope relief from Mount Nemrut (Turkey).
The episode moves between the original landscape of the monument and the copy in a museum setting.

On 17 December 2024, we met up for the first time in a café in Amsterdam.
Before, we only knew each other from Instagram and had talked here and there, but then Jona moved to Amsterdam!
We chatted for hours, had coffee and almost right there and then "Things We Threw Away" was born!

It was found in a house in a town which was buried by volcanic material in 79 AD.

🎙️ Episode 5 - A Roman cradle
In the 5th episode of Things We Threw Away, we discuss a Roman cradle from Herculaneum and how the object survived against all odds.
The Roman cradle, or cunabulum as the Romans would have called it, is in incredibly good shape.

There are archaeological records dating back to around 1200, the official birthday is October 27, 1275. This date is mentioned in a document in which Floris V grants the residents of the city free travel.

In this episode, we are visiting the Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht (Netherlands), where an object stands right at the entrance, which Jona picked to take a closer look at: a medieval (ceremonial?) hammer built up based on an axehead from around 1000 BCE.
