I definitely recommend at least finishing inquisition and the deep roads and trespasser dlcs. If not outright playing them, just look up a synopsis of the plot and big decisions. Veilguard is worth the hassle

Yes you can still play it but there’s still some core things you’d wanna know because the context makes it all the better. The game has a pretty in-depth codex and glossary I recommend checking out if you wind up getting it. It gives a lot of the political and historical context of the world!
