Sugar rush peach pods from 2 of 5 plants enjoying autumn rain and temperatures finally under 30C
They'll be dried and turned to sauce, I'm wondering if they'd make a good chilli oil like Serrano pods in the jars π€ πΆοΈπ±
Has anyone dabbled in chilli oil with non red chilli pods ?
First ripe sugar rush peach pods added with Anaheim pods for another sauce, this time adding onion and garlic flakes for a different flavour
Having the doors and windows closed with the air conditioner cranked wasn't a good idea for scorching Chinense pods π€§ πΆοΈπ±
That'll clear the sinuses π₯΅
Try some chilli to scare it away πΆοΈπΆοΈ
You definitely can get corn seeds for next season
I've been getting seeds of various vegetable types I've not seen before from ' The Seed Collection '
They're even cheaper than store seeds from Mr Fothergils and Digger's seeds, plus delivery of seed is faster than Digger's
A new type of corn I'm growing( Early Leaming corn ) can apparently grow over 300cm tall and has red silks
I thought the strong winds might snap the more slender stalks, but so far so good
I just hope the cockatoos are not attracted to the crop

Anaheim pods coming on as the fruit flies come out with the high humidity
A nice smokey flavour from easily scorched pods( hot wax pods took longer to scorch) from ripe & semi ripe pods πΆοΈπ±
I gave up adding coir or coconut peat to seed raising mix for the same reason you're experiencing
I still add perlite or vermiculite to aid aeration of the soil, but there's still no happy medium while the seedlings remain indoors, avoiding dampening off is always a challenge in a hot environment
We all need a laugh these days π
Chocolate bih Jolokia harvest turned into a paste
They're not as hot as it's red brother or cousin Bhut Jolokia, but they still deliver a good punch to the mouth/tongue without the earthy flavours of the hotter types

White icicle radish, not sure where they originate from
This summer has been tough on plants in full sun, luckily the hibiscus is potted for easier moving

Sugar rush peach & Hot wax pods so far surviving a brutal summer
The sugar rush peach plant wouldn't have survived without shade cloth, pods & foliage have been sunburned more than previous summers with constant 40C+ baking sun since Xmas
Not doing 34 pepper plants again π₯΅ πΆοΈπ±
I wasn't expecting the white radish to grow so long π―

Your sauce looks awesome π dried Tabasco has a potent kick as does a Tabasco paste π₯΅
How long after opening sauce jars/bottles do your sauces last?
Don't forget the Bulgarian carrot (aka Shipkas ), crunchy and bitey π
A mix of ripe/semi ripe chilli and capsicums picked before the fruit flies return after the rainy period

Serranos from a second season plant has provided lots of early pods for sauce
Hot wax thicker pods have resisted getting sunburned or wilting from extreme heat (leaf curl from storm rains New year), they'll be good for frying with other peppers for a spicy sauce
#Hotpeppers πΆοΈπ±
After 4 days of above 40C, the chilli plants have sprung back to life with cooler temperatures
This chocolate bih Jolokia was totally wilted in hot winds yesterday, fortunately leaf drop was the only issue, some other plants have sunburned pods and wind burnt foliage

Dried sugar rush peach is worth the process, I love how they keep their flavour
Coffee grinder and mortar & pestle come in handy following the dehydrator, albeit a lot of sneezing π€§
Have you been tempted to snack on a crunchy dry pod? π₯΅
Caribbean reds I've grown for over 12 years from a mystery seed pack
Possibly Fresno peppers from what I could research
They have a sweet pepper flavour with a bite of jalapeno, yet they get much hotter second season
Good as Sliders, stuffed or combined with hotter peppers for sauce #Hotpeppers πΆοΈπ±
You're not a loser , keep your chin up π
Pest control herbs & marigolds have attracted the first honey bees to my garden in 3 summers since the varroa mite killed off hives around the state
2 bees arrived just after Xmas, each couple of days more bees arrived, today I counted 7 awesome honeybees ππ

3 types of melon finally fruiting with pyrethrum helping keep the pests away
Not sure if the lite green/white melon is a rockmelon or honeydew melon

I haven't seen many orb spiders this spring/summer possibly due to more winds since September
Maybe still time for them, highly unusual not seeing them though πΈοΈ
Good seeing a Honey bee π
I saw 2 honey bees buzzing around basil flowers, the first 2 I've seen in over 3 summers since the varroa mite decimated bee hives
