Loved this page turner by @jacquelinewest.bsky.social Small town, abandoned hotel…secrets come to the surface when a new family arrives to restore the hotel but they are not welcomed into the community…Our next #bookposse reader is @teachlovesbooks.bsky.social @simonteen.bsky.social
It’s going to be relatively warm in Minnesota next week. I suggest Schumer and Jeffries come here. Do a shift or two at a school. Do oversight at the Whipple. Spend some time with a few of the thousands of Minnesotans who’ve been protecting their neighbors for months.
Don’t squander this.
It has arrived!! ❤️🖤The upcoming YA horror from author @jacquelinewest.bsky.social Small town secrets, a haunted hotel, insiders & outsiders, climate change… #bookposse has a wait list for this one! Publishes 7/26!

I have news. 🖤
BLACK POINT, coming summer 2026.
YA horror. Folklore and climate change and insiders vs. outsiders and a hotel full of ghosts. Can't wait to share it with all of you.
This creepy and magical book is out in the world TODAY, and I'm excited for every reader who finds it. 🖤
While the King quote on the front is amazing, the back ones also make me cry happy tears! Thanks @chuckwendig.bsky.social Daka Hermon @jacquelinewest.bsky.social @shakirahwrites.bsky.social @lorienlawrence.bsky.social
Middle grade horror forever 🖤
Today's Supreme Court decision, though couched in the language of freedom and inclusivity, is a tragic failure for both the right to read and the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. Authors Against Book Bans stands firmly and fiercely against the decision and its rationale. To allow parents to "object" to the presence of positive books about the lives and rights of LGBTQIA+ people is to allow them to "object" to the existence of LGBTQIA+ students, parents, educators, and others in the wider community. You cannot “opt out” of reality, no matter what today’s majority opinion states. These books belong on shelves and these stories belong in classrooms and curricula.
Our statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling in Mahmoud v Taylor. Image thread with alt text. 1/4
Supremes say parents can opt out of letting their kids listen to LGBTQ stories. Can parents similarly opt out of kids listening to stories that DON'T have LGBTQ themes or incidents? 🤣

Fifteen years ago today, I became a published author. It feels impossible -- both that it's been so long, and that it happened at all.
Fifteen years, and somehow, The Shadows is still finding its way to readers. Happy birthday, little book. 🖤

I do not understand telling creatives to "shut up about politics."
One, this is life in this world. You can acknowledge being part of it, or you can pretend you're immune until you find out you're wrong.
Two, there are plenty of creatives doing the latter. If you don't like us, follow them 🤷♀️
A thought for the book clubs!
Set aside a little time at the start of meetings to fight for the right to read. Members send emails, sign petitions, write postcards. Research local candidates. 10-15 minutes tops & then onto the book, wine, fun.
Amplify your activism. Celebrate your community.
I’m going to write this novel and the next one and the one after and I have no clue if my agent will like them or be able to sell them or how much they’ll sell for or to whom or how well they’ll perform, but none of that matters because the only thing I can control is the work I put in. Let’s write.
"Are you sure you want to go camping?" Spooky books for camping! (Disclaimer: All of these books actually exist and were compiled by a real person)

We ask for solidarity in this fight for freedom of speech and access to books and the necessary goods that libraries provide communities nationwide.
We ask HarperCollins to explain why they refused to publicly support IMLS alongside their fellow publishers. We ask HarperCollins to state how they will support libraries and access to books moving forward.
I am one of the 1,350 individuals and organizations who signed the open letter to HarperCollins in support of IMLS, libraries, and library workers across the United States.

As a fellow lifelong Wednesday fan, all I can say is YES YES YES
"In the real world, the world of cause and effect, when we tear down the best among us and provide bogus reasons for why we did it, reality will eventually come for us."
Here's hoping.
