The U.S. 4th Circuit Appeals Court allows hate-states to single out Trans and Gender Diverse adults for denial of coverage for medically necessary surgical care, in addition to adolescents. Moreover, the court urges state governments "to encourage citizens 'to appreciate their [birth-assigned] sex' and not 'become disdainful of their [birth-assigned sex.'”
More human suffering and more blood on trumpism's hands in the U.S.

1930s Germany, all over again--weaponizing politically punitive and scientifically capricious mental illness stereotypes to imprison entire minority populations without due process or civil rights. Trans, Nonbinary, and Queer communities will once again be targeted very early on...

Under pressure from trumpism, the American Medical Association recently disavowed science and medical ethics and retreated on the medical necessity of well-evidenced, affirming surgical care for adolescent TGD people who need it. Is is time for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) to evacuate the U.S. and reincorporate in a safe nation, where the fundamental human rights of Transgender and Gender Diverse people are respected and protected and not persecuted for eradication from human society? Our intersectional, global TGD communities need cogent standards of care that are based on evidence, reason, and compassion, not fear of totalitarian retribution.

When medical institutions (1) falsely categorize diverse human minorities as mentally disordered, then (2) collaborate with state-sponsored eradication of targeted minorities by denying medically necessary care, while (3) boasting of their "commitment" to save lives among the favored classes; they are committing the moral equivalent of medical eugenics. This is how these executives and administrators, who leapt to obey tyranny in advance, should be remembered by history. --Kelley Winters 2026
More than 40 U.S. Hospitals and Clinics have halted all or some medically necessary care for TGD adolescents and young adults since trumpism took power. (Some are subjects of litigation)

Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want. Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice.

Gavin Newsom: Democrats Need to Be 'More Culturally Normal'
YouTube video by The New York Times
Historical context: Newsom's 2025 "we have to be more culturally normal" remark at a NYT event :

My own California Governor and wannabe Democratic presidential nominee, Gavin Newsom, once again de-closeted his inner transmisia in a disgraceful interview with CNN, earlier this week. He referred to the existence, human dignity, and civil rights of TGD people in American society as less than "culturally normal" and not among "things that really matter." Again, he signaled his eagerness to compromise with trumpism's agenda to eradicate TGD people:
“From the prism of purely politics, there’s no doubt that the Democratic party needs to be – dare I say – more culturally normal. I believe that - less prone to spending disproportionate amounts of time on pronouns, identity politics, more focused on tabletop issues, things that really matter, the stacking of stress in terms of the electricity bills and childcare costs and health care and obviously housing costs, and how easily we get trapped in that, how I’ve fallen prey to that.” (-2:38min in video)
Next, he doubled down on lies about Trans and Gender Diverse participation in athletics--demanding that the public be "more sensitive" to practices and policies of discrimination and marginalization:
“But I think if you can’t hold the line on competitive sports… competitive, medal sports, if we can’t find that nuance, I think we’re going to lose a lot of people. We’re not going to get invited to larger conversations. So I do think we have to be more sensitive in that respect.” (-1:50min in video)
This is not politics. It's not, dare I say, "normal" discourse. This is moral failure at the heart of TGD wellbeing, safety, health, and access to medical care. Newsom's "culturally normal" tagline is a deliberate exploitation of socially punitive and scientifically capricious stereotypes and policies that continue to classify gender diversity as mental illness in the U.S. This is what cowardice, betrayal, and bigotry look like--even in my own party, in my own adopted state of California, where I am no longer safe.

There have always been horrifically anti-trans groups and individuals. Few have done more, though, to launder their hate into “respectable” conversations than Jess Singal. No publications have done more to help that along than The Atlantic and The New York Times.

It looks like the only 59 in the parking lot, so the photo was probably taken very early in the 59 model year, in late 1958.
I just barely remember my dad's car, of the same GM platform. Ours was a 59 Chevy Impala, bat-wing, bubble-top, fuel-injected, and two-tone (white over turquoise). Amazing.

It's very hard to see with the sun glare, but the newer car in the center might be a 59 Pontiac Bonneville or Catalina, with a distinctive "Vista" hardtop (no C-pillar, wrap-around rear window, rear overhang). The wide oval taillights would more resemble the Bonneville.

Trump admin issues new policy aimed at ending transgender-related care in federal prisons
"It's a really dangerous policy,” an ACLU lawyer representing trans people in federal prison suing the Trump administration tells Law Dork of the new Bureau of Prisons policy.
Yet another criminally homicidal nightmare emerges in the U.S., as trump's Federal Bureau of Prisons issues a new nationwide policy of forced social and endocrine detransition and abusive gender-conversion psychotherapies for all TGD people in federal custody. This is what mass murder looks like.

For more than a decade, I have pointed out that the boundaries of legislative persecution of TGD people in US states today closely mirror those of slave trade and Confederate treason in the early 1860s--when we include their strategic conquest targets of the Louisiana Purchase territories and Arizona Territory. This still fits the present UCLA data for 2025. The right-wing obsession with eradication of TGD people from human society under trumpism is an ideological spawn of the atrocities of slave trade, perpetuated by the same southern, antebellum theo-political institutions.

Kudos and gratitude to the UCLA School of Law Williams Institution for publication of their soul-jarring report, The Impact of 2025 State Anti-Transgender Legislation on Youth. What these corrupt state governments are doing to TGD people is not mere "impact," is is politically targeted persecution.

VERY Dangerous Conclusions are Being Drawn From a New Poll on Trans Rights

A U.S. national poll, published this week by software engineer Lakshya Jain at The Argument, reports a disturbing abandonment of support for fundamental human rights for TGD people among Democrat voters, despite enormous polling gains by Dems in recent weeks. Jain concludes, "The Democratic Party is bouncing back. The trans rights movement is not."
If valid, this data may precede further willingness by pseudo-liberal Dem politicians to throw TGD lives under the bus in the name of "both-sides" reconciliation with the likes of Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro. We will certainly be hearing more about this poll in the coming weeks and months.
I do have a soft spot in my heart for engineer nerds, grounded in the maths of formal logic, doing interdisciplinary work on social justice issues. That is my journey as well. This was Professor Lynn Conway's path before me. But Mr. Jain's anti-trans bias is showing, in the text of his article. He euphemizes hateful lies and false stereotypes about gender diversity as "dissenting views." He normalizes public accommodation discrimination and life-threatening medical care denial for TGD people that he would never dare inflict on any other marginalized group. Jain bashes TGD victims of institutional persecution as "confrontational" for defending our humanity. He blames Trans victims for the hate we endure and often cannot survive.
No. Unalienable rights are not a "debate."
