I also often feel people forget a company needs to make money. An MMO only works for the company if they can keep profiting from it.
If it’s a one time payment and nothing more kind of game, they’d make it a single player game (which is great fun too, btw)
I fully agree. But when I tried to put things in perspective on Reddit, I was labelled as someone who gets paid by Cryptic to defend them. This was even before the Event Campaigns.
For an MMO, STO is not even close to the money-sink it could be. And I am very glad for that.

Just joking of course, but I do agree. The QeHpu’ is one of my favourite STO-original Klingon ships. Haven’t found a right character to fly her yet, but I have always enjoyed how she looks; a combination of the B’rel and the Vor’cha
