If I had a nickel for every time someone told me if I was a priest or becoming a priest Iβd have 8 nickels. Which isnβt a lot, but heyβitβs more than two!

Very happy that I didnβt talk myself out of studying at the library this morning. It felt like a close fight, but I definitely won. π π§ πͺπΎπ»
π Soooo close to completing the NMA CompNeuro course at W3D4. But none of the info is getting through to me. It's going to sting a bit, but I think I have to restart Week 3 over... π βͺ

Wow! I finished another Week in the courseβ¦ I finally more than half way through. One more module and then my attempt at the end-of-the-course project. Canβt believe I really did this, on my own too. π³ #NMA π§ π»πͺπΎ
Oof! I think Iβm getting to the point where I need to reach out more for help with my course work π . Exciting, and super nervous about it. Maybe I should join @neuromatch.bsky.social βs Discord sooner than expected? #selfstudying
Catsitting this week, so no library time for a while. Studying at home as an easily distracted person. π‘π΅βπ«

Woke up early, showered, had breakfast, took my medicines and supplements, brushed my teeth, got finely dressed. Feeling confident as heck on my way finish off this segment on Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) at the library π . #ComputationalNeuroscience π§ π»πͺπΎ
Backpack is packed
βI, Robotβ for leisure reading during breaks
Laptop and charger
Headphones
Notebooks with Ticonderoga pencils
And a nice walk to the library
Letβs get this knowledge!

Hi folks, been a while since Iβve active. Would anyone happen to have any advice for someone who feels like theyβre still learning their foundations all on their own? #CompNeuro #neuroscience #computationalneuroscience Feels like Iβve spent a long time at the bottom and not sure I have much to show
just sharing a victory screenshot of my day 73 of my coding lesson project - learning to use Matplotlib
Sparrow trying to eat an entire mountain of discarded shrimp exo parts in Newport, Oregon, this past weekend. You're welcome.
In just a couple more weeks, Iβll be wrapping up my Python course, and from there, Iβll could finally start crafting my own programs to build out my portfolio.
when i decided to go for computational neuroscience, i wasnβt into Comp Sci. but i was craving something hard at a time when i'd catch myself daydreaming about math, longing for studying & methods that was rigorous. i still have doubts if i'll make it, but for once, the path feels right. #selfstudy
I get to work with Pandas for tomorrow's lesson! I've been excited all week.
finished today's lesson in my python course about file i/o.
my script just reads a list of names and then generates personalizes letters for each.
almost gave up, then everything just clicked.
the best part was trimming 27 lines of clunkiness down to 8.
felt euphoric to figure it out. #PythonEverday
How does the brain work?
Scientists are closer to the answer with the largest wiring diagram and functional map of a mammalian brain to date. π§΅

New great piece from @emilymbender.bsky.social explaining the problem with "AI" framing.
"If what you are doing is sensible and grounded science, there is...a more precise way to describe it that bolsters rather than undermines the interest and value of your research."

In the latest in our 'Frontiers in human neurotechnology' series, @vanderhaeghenp2.bsky.social explores how xenotransplantation can offer insight into human specifc properties of the brain. Series guest editor: Josh Sanes.
Half a century after the discovery of long-term potentiation, weβre still learning how the brain remembers. @knowablemag.bsky.social

Whew! Finished coding a program challenge, only to realized I did it just by sight. I had assumed what the project would be and just went straight to work in one go, not realizing the project was supposed to be broken up into smaller chucks. And I still nailed it! #ThisIsMyNerdEra ππ¨πΎβπ¬ #PythonEveryday
Burnout is slowly fading away. Getting back to longer study sessions, but with short, frequent breaks. #ChemistryThursdays #PythonEveryday
Ooo! Same here. I thought about the consequences but the name and book cover looked so cool!
Canβt believe this is how I find out that thereβs a new book. Thanks!
I just want to say how incredibly welcomed I feel here. So many brilliant and generous people in STEM have not only followed back, but also guided me toward new opportunities and connections. That means so much to me. Thank you all!
By the way, I just realized I've been addressing folks by their first name without thinking! Let me know if you'd prefer Dr. [Last Name]/Prof. [Last Name] instead. I don't want to be too informal!
... and the author xjwang.bsky.social has entered the chat - I endorse on this follow!
Thank you! π
