The pressure they can apply is blocking fuel and fertiliser supplies to cause enough economic damage and food shortages to force the world to take action.

I think this new guy in charge of Iran is in the right place psychologically to do that, given how many people he knows who have been killed.

Iran needs to do something that makes it unlikely that the US will do another sneak attack war like this again. I don't think Iran has the tools to achieve this directly.

But Iran can put pressure on the rest of the world to take action against the rogue nations that are the US and Israel.

Think there's this wide assumption that most people's reaction to the idea that British bases overseas might get hit by Iran is screeching terror, demands for revenge, rather than "huh, we have a military base in Cyprus. Why?" and I'm not sure that's necessarily the case.

Also, "How much does that cost to run?" and "Can we really afford that when children are going hungry in the UK?"
