This is basically the story of St. Paul.
I can’t say this is the strangest religious tract I’ve come across, but the “Bully threatens to beat up/extort kids, then finds Jesus the next day and tries to save his former victims’ souls” is quite a storytelling decision.
That's a fun melodrama. Lupino at her most gorgeous and toughest (with a touch of sad vulnerability). And the outfits she wears...oy, my heart. Watch for Alan Alda's dad Robert as the POS club owner. Also, she wears this hat and says she was afraid an organ grinder would try to kidnap her.
Oh lá lá! Just received this review copy in the mail from the fine folks at @uminnpress.bsky.social.
Horace was known for calling the president on his bullshit several thousand years before the Bull Moose was even born.
A farseeing quote by the great Roman poet.
This might be the greatest split-screen ever broadcast.
They’ll play this in museums in future.

“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”

I interviewed @etoddbreland.bsky.social about her new bio of CTU President/education activist Karen Lewis. Lewis planned to write the book, but a stroke and cancer stopped her. Fortunately, the two conducted many interviews before Lewis' death.

I forget the circumstances, but I made a joke about a Nancy Sinatra post (I think I was actually defending her). I think she read it as a critical remark of HER, then dismissed and blocked me.
Proudest of being blocked by Ricky Gervais after calling BS on something he said.

THEY weren’t personally affected, making Trump an average president as far as they’re concerned. You know, rather than the aberrant evil freak show he is.
Trump won’t destroy the world ENTIRELY, and for some supposedly intelligent folks that will be proof that all his detractors were overreacting.
“Dad, what were you like in the 90s?”
Pretty much the same, but thinner, far more manic and angry, and with more hair.

There's always that (useless) bit of satisfaction when the dummies crash and the higher ranks realize (though never admit) they fucked up. Over the years, I've seen it happen so many times...
This will segue into a streaming documentary or reality-based series.
People aren't naturally stupid. But certain folks realized that if they present reality as snack food, they can keep viewers engaged and sell more stuff.
My theory: over the past two decades certain radio shows and podcasts did well, and their show-runners gained in power and influence, and decided delivering the news had to be repackaged as "storytelling."
Sullivan ornamentation is quite rare, so I doubt they're totally smashing the room to bits. But even if they recover every scrap, it's a terrible waste. Such a beautiful room, and one of the few remaining fragments that give a sense of how grand Sullivan's imagination was.

If you can find a copy. A copper’s memories of Gilded Age Chicago’s underworld. I got lucky.
