Apropos of even less, let it be noted that "USS Dextrous" is a genuinely superb name for a mine removal vessel.

An old lawyer in love with new music, among other things. Snappy patter & wordplay a subspecialty. Not one of those George Wallaces you may have heard of. Occasional longer outbursts via georgewallace.substack.com. Mostly harmless. Neither mod nor rocker.
Apropos of even less, let it be noted that "USS Dextrous" is a genuinely superb name for a mine removal vessel.
In a kinder, gentler, less venal world, this company's goal would be to make proper, airborne Quidditch playable by muggles.
The quoted post is from the replies to this one:
In Heaven, there is no Fifth Amendment privilege.
It's self-incrimination, all the way down.
Act your age, mama, not your shoe size.
I never grow tired of "Working Week," but the closing track mayyyy be more appropriate to the times.

It strikes even me as odd. There's been no conscious effort to avoid him on my part.
Somehow, I have gone through a long life having watched only one Leonardo Di Caprio picture. It's "Catch Me If You Can," about which the only thing I recall is that Christopher Walken is good in it, as is usual.
Beware the droghte of March.

And now, a message from Mandy Patinkin [monologue from 'The Music of Chance' (1993)].

Waiting for the End of the World
I want my country's honor and reputation back you son of a bitch.
Unfortunately, the extra hours of sleep were placed on the Tariff Shelf and can no longer be found or returned.
Original Loveline on KROQ dates back to the mid-80s and came in straight out of the AIDS era, and was for that reason as open and enlightened as you say. It really set out to be broadly supportive and helpful in a stressed and changeful time. Don't know why those good folks went largely wrong.
No one, but no one, who speaks at the headlong overdriven pace of the evening personalities on Fox News is saying anything you want or need to hear.
Screechy as the violins in Janet Leigh's shower, and just as deadly.
I swear the middle third of Jason Moran's performance of Ellington's 'Black and Tan Fantasy' reads as a full on hommage to those evil/crazy Julius Eastman piano pieces whose true names must not be spoken.

HAL, of course, had lost his cybernetic mind, and yet, long ago in 2001, at the very turn of this dubious century, the historical documents demonstrate that HAL was more 'human' than anything on offer today.
And was polite and well-mannered.
Which way, Silicon Valley Man?

There's only one gal fatale as can properly nail this look.
All is Full of Blave
That upcoming Ultravox show would be the last with John Foxx fronting the band (and I was there).
It's such a firehose of malign nonsense, there's no way even to know where to begin to try to attempt to correct any regular Fox viewer's misconceptions of baseline reality.
My maternal grandfather, born 1900, lied about his age to enlist in WWI. Became a civil engineer, returned to service in WWII helping (I believe) with operations in the Channel. Came home and helped build many public works around, and in, the Great Lakes. Lived into the latter '70s.
Come #BandcampFriday, I'll be dropping 3 quid for this one.
New ground (orchestral composition) for a fine musician. Very satisfying, in a mode adjacent to J. Johannsson, by way of R. Strauss, with some choice Reich-y bits for spice.

El Salvador would be shipped to El Salvador .
Listening to Herbie Hancock's River once again. Amongst many other great moments, it features what I'm pretty sure is the last recording of Tina Turner doing a "pop" song, in this case a sizzling version of Joni's Edith and the Kingpin.

Yuval Sharon's tenure with LA Phil produced some of the most striking evenings of music drama I will ever experience: Meredith Monk's "ATLAS," the transcendent Beckett-Schubert evening, Norman's underrated "Trip to the Moon," & Harrison's astonishing "Young Caesar."
I would trust him with anything.
Sort of like Sinead O'Connor hugging that picture of the Pope.
