The only way you can think AI does lit reviews better is if you’re not interested in making an intellectual argument or building theory … which uh, is pretty key to the advancement of knowledge

Dear OpenAI: Please stop trying to gaslight the world into believing that whatever GPT 5 does is “thinking” in any meaningful sense.

My fear is that administrators will respond to these kinds of complaints from students because it’s a legal liability, while faculty concerns about student AI use will be met with the same status quo platitudes about it being here to stay, teaching how to use it the right way, etc.

Admin and EdTech folks:

Stop suggesting that teachers use AI for teaching and grading and start giving teachers space and tools to actually help do our jobs.

Columbia Concedes to Trump’s Demands After Federal Funds Are Stripped The administration has moved to cut $400 million in federal funding to the university without changes to its policies and rules.

Columbia University has failed to defend academic freedom & freedom of speech & allowed a great institution to be bullied & extorted into submission by an administration hellbent on contorting higher education to their will.

The AAUP condemns this capitulation. We can & must fight back.

There’s so much in that book that was oddly prescient about the times we’re currently living in, someone should unironically try to lobby to make this happen

Partisan selective exposure and politically polarized attitudes toward disruptive protest - Kyle John Lorenzano, Soo Jung Moon, Porismita Borah, 2023 While many Americans support the right to protest, increased animus has recently been directed at protesters themselves, often along partisan ideological lines ...

As my inaugural post here, I figured I’d share this paper from last year on partisan asymmetries in tolerance for moral disengagement over seeing protestors “roughed up” and how consumption of partisan media mirrors those same asymmetries.
