Learned a lot from this piece, Maria. Thank you for it

Remember that brief clip of David Lynch cooking quinoa? [Chris Farley skit voice:] that was awesome
Do you ever just stare a word out of countenance while you're writing, like, 'that can't be how's it's spelled.' I just did that with "poignant".
@danagould.bsky.social Thank you for your performance last night at Atlanta Punchline. Big fan, good times! I was the guy front and center.
βDo you have a favorite horror movie?β
βUhh, An American Werewolf in London?β
βI like βPretty Womanβ You thought I said βhorrorββ π
hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...
"Alexa, notifications."
"Good evening, Mark. Too Much of Life has arrived."
"Do I still have to go to work tomorrow?"
I wonder how many in my cohort were first introduced to her via a Tex Avery cartoon

One of my hobbies over the last like fifteen years is to keep updating the syntax of my 'John Barth' google alert to try to keep an Indianapolis politician out of the results
The day after David Lynchβs passing, Patrick Fischler answered all our questions about the diner scene in David Lynchβs βMulholland Driveβ: βThe dread just came to me. I can feel it in my chest right now.β
I'm about a 50/50 man when it comes to either yanking out stray threads from a shirt or sweater I'm wearing vs burning it off with a cigarette lighter
Ha! Now I'll end up down a rabbit hole of what that a/e mashup is called, what the keyboard shortcut for it is, etc. Damn your eyes!
Gonna start spelling "medieval" with the less common 'a' thrown in, just for s&g

I just got hold of βThe Graphic Canon, Vol. 3: From Heart of Darkness to Hemingway to Infinite Jestβ and didnβt realize you did the IG illustrations. Well done! I had seen the Gately one many years ago, but not the others
Every time I use a cotton swab I always think of the 1970s Q-Tip commercial with Sid Caesar where he says at the end [roughly] "And remember! Never put anything in your ear, except of course your elbow."
I'm a little ashamed at how many books I bought in 2024 and how few I read. I try to console myself with "Ayyy!, I'm a collector! It's aspirational and fun!" etc, but it's clearly become another addiction/distraction to reel in this year. *sigh*
I just bought another first edition of John Barth's LETTERS mainly for the dust jacket, because I lost the jacket for mine which he signed for me in 2001 (the book, not the jacket). Yeah. I'm that guy.
Simultaneously delighted and a little bummed at how inexpensive it was

How did I not know this...
Mine have been of the obvious-at-glance sort: the duck-face/lips pic with vacuous profile description and no posts. You know like Twitter π π€·ββοΈ
Iβm starting to get a fair amount of bot-follows on here. [Peanuts skyward-looking βAAUGH!!β]
My granite countertop at the bar section facing back into the kitchen frequently becomes this weird Rorschach collage when look away from the book or laptop and go into a brief reverie. It's freaky-deaky
A light clanging outside my window (what *is* that? I still don't know) has been mesmerizing me all day. Now I just realized it's this saudade-y recollection of walking or bicycling to school a bit early before class in grades 3-5 to get in a round of tetherball. The snaphook hitting the pole...
I don't know if any of it was somehow preserved, but I could read exchanges between dfw and his editors for the rest of my life
Odd coincidence that I was just contemplating this very thing this morning: texts and voice mails from the departed. Decided not to decide
Is there a poem that says something like "then you will shew [or shew to yourself / yourselves] that you are still alive" ?
My a-googlin' is turning up donut
About time for another βwho sorts the mother-loving parcel room?!β rant to hapless apartment complex front office person after searching fruitlessly yet again for a book delivered a week ago

Watched βPlanes, Trainsβ¦β with Mom. She hadnβt seen it. She either enjoyed it or humored me. Iβll take either
Maybe I'll write a monosyllabically titled one: "Of 'Of' for 'On'"
