God, I hated that man.
To this day, I have no clue how he completed OCS without the others in his class murdering him for incompetence. He wasn't good at a single task required of a USMC officer. 1stSgt and a Gy kept the company afloat. Capt C just sorta drifted around & we all tried to mitigate the disaster in his wake.
Didn't know how to get training for his Marines, didn't know what training they even needed or why, didn't know the roles of the Marines in his command (literally "what we do, why and how"), the list is long...lol and the Bn Co just loathed him to the point that everyone knew it.
Never in the right uniform, uniform always stained/a mess, never on time, didn't know how to hold a formation, couldn't call cadence or march, couldn't handle paperwork, didn't know regs, never learned his Marines' names, wrote notes on crumpled scraps which he then lost, office a pigsty,
My Co commander as I exited the USMC was a special kind of stupid. Bn didn't deploy him bc of how little respect enlisted & officers had for him. He was L O S T 100% of the time. E4s explaining the Corps to him. If he told you to do something, you asked 1stSgt if he actually wanted it done.

Found a food blog from 2014 for an orange cake recipe today, and it's such a bit of time travel back to when recipe blogs were a little nicer to read. You can tell they actually *like* what they're making, even when it isn't "perfect."
Now to test the recipe!
The other bit of joy was finding yeast today at a new (bigger than my local neighborhood) grocery store. Translation mixup yesterday gave me both baking soda and baking powder, helpful, but not yeast. 🤦♀️😅 I'm very excited.
