Three weeks left to submit proposals for our panel series on Emotions in medieval Mystical/Devotional Texts for IMC 2025!
Getting ready for #IMC2025! Rowan Wilson and I have issued a call for papers about emotions in Mystical and Devotional Texts. Let's talk about feelings (or the lack thereof). Deadline for abstracts is September 20th!
I am excited to be giving one of the Spring Lectures at the Ruuesbroec Institute tomorrow, May 24th, at 2pm CEST (1pm BST). If you would like to attend online, you can register at: www.uantwerpen.be/en/research-...
The deadline was extended but is now only one week away! Get your proposals in by February 15, 2024!
Only a train ride away!
It is very normal for the footnotes of a dissertation chapter to have an equal (or greater) word count to the chapter itself, right? #phdlife
AJ Langley is joined by Lee Irwin to talk about the Lakota mystic and healer HeΘΓ‘ka SΓ‘pa/Black Elk. We talk about the differences between Native and Christian visionary experiences, ritual, embodied spirituality, and putting visions into action. Listen here: shorturl.at/nsCHZ, or on any podcast app!
The deadline swiftly approaches! #medievalsky #mysticism

I really enjoyed this interview and I am so glad to have it out!
Very excited about this conference!
A parchment-coloured (ie beige-ish) book cover, with an ornate gilded border (the image is from a medieval manuscript. The border features photos from pride marches and two saints with haloes in pride flag colours (trans and non-binary). Inside the border is an image of a saint with a pink glittery background behind their halo, holding a trans flag. Collaged over their eyes are the eyes from a photo of a drag queen. The title of the book is Trans and Genderqueer Subjects in Medieval Hagiography, and it's edited by Alicia Spencer-Hall and Blake Gutt. It's published by Amsterdam University Press, in the series Hagiography Beyond Tradition.
You asked for it, and it's finally here...
Trans and Genderqueer Subjects in Medieval Hagiography is now out in paperback!

Waiting to see this!
This is a good point. The shelf is not a necessity.
You just need an empty shelf and a project that you really should be doing instead of creating a TBR shelf...
And therein lies the problem!
Send me a picture of your TBR shelf at home, and I will choose for you.
