I think we know who the deranged scumbags are.
Scary. Can someone now bribe TSA personnel to look the other way? Never connecting via the US.
That’s amazing! Congrats!

If you’re wondering why artists and arts organizations can’t just sell more tickets, sell more paintings, sell more records and be self-sufficient, this one’s for you.

They’re weakening. They won’t pass this budget before March Break, which means you’ve got an extra week to ask your MLA to make these cuts make sense. If you need help with facts and figures, let me know and I will help you. Let’s go, Nova Scotia.
What’s this?? A literary magazine with a strategic plan, out to 2030! More good stuff coming out of Ireland.

An acquaintance who spends summers in Canada said we should visit her in Florida “once Trump is gone.” No, no, no. That’s not how this is going to work. The US needs to change. It needs to be nearly impossible for a Trumpist or a Nazi or a fascist to gain power. That’s multiple generations of work.
Possibly try to pit sectors against each other? “I can cut HERE OR I can cut THERE …” Guess we’ll find out.
Premier Tim Houston has called a 10:45 am news conference today related to the budget.
poster featuring a photo of several people drumming. The text reads: Shoulder to shoulder to shoulder. New Budget Now Rally. Tuesday March 10 at noon. Province House. 1726 Hollis St. Kjipuktuk/Halifax. Culture is Critical. We are all treaty people.
TODAY.
NOON.
PROVINCE HOUSE.
SEE YOU THERE!
Two protest signs, obviously handmade, laying in the floor. One reads “ALL ARTS BELONG IN SCHOOLS” and the other, “CUT THE CRAP, Houston, NOT THE ARTS.”
My wife dug into her art supplies. Painting saves the day!
Just back from shopping for proper markers and there are none to be had in my neck of the woods. Hm, this rally might be a big one.
Protest sign lying on the floor with lettering only partially coloured in. A slim Sharpie is resting on the poster.
We’re gonna need a bigger marker.

Tomorrow! See you there!
It also appears to be Canadian? I am in the process of signing up. Thanks!
Today!

colourful poster that reads: Nova Scotia Communities United. New Budget Now Rally. Tuesday March 10 at noon Province House, Halifax 1726 Hollis Street. Urgent! Advocate to your ML: Tools at NSARTS.ca.
The proposed cuts are a disaster. Govt could have made different choices. Tuesday. Noon. Province House. See you there.
I am a little uncertain whether the intended adjective here is “intersectional” or “intersectoral” (or “multisectoral”?), but that will become clear shortly.
We are NOT done. Keep an eye on this link over the weekend for details about an all-province rally (across all affected sectors) on March 10, in advance of the budget vote in the Nova Scotia legislature.
International Women's Day Concert: Glass Winds Ensemble presents “Motion,” Sunday, March 8, 2 to 3 pm at the Halifax Central Library. Glass Winds, the first all-female inclusive wind ensemble in Nova Scotia, performs compositions by women and minority composers. Celebrating bold new works!
Kim Pittaway on Brevity Blog, on making use of cast-offs in writing practice. (Nice to see “local” names in prominent places!) Timely for me this morning, as I rummage through discarded fragments which are all that’s left of lacklustre essays eviscerated to make better ones.
We are a couple days early posting this, but it deserves to be celebrated multiple days. International Women's Day is this Sunday and we want to recognize some of our female local authors who blaze trails with their stories. Stories that are more important now than ever before.
