I see it all the time. People that talk down about the game portion of rpg because a person can't somehow enjoy both aspects of... well the rpg.

Played a ton of Pokopia over the weekend. This game is definitely fun out of 10! I can't wait to play it again soon. #videogames #switch2
A lovely dream
RPG stands for Roleplaying Game.
Just as some people try to make video games into movies, I guess there are always those that look to change roleplaying games into something that are not games.
But I don't understand why people have issues with the game in roleplaying games.
These days the more things change the more things stay the same. I see a lot of gnashing of teeth about the Switch 2 and I am just reminded of the old days and news articles like this.

I can't beat that last stage. One day!
I grew up on the old tmnt but I actually like the 2003 TMNT best. The DVD box set I own is very blurry though which is a shame.
I honestly didn't know so I appreciate the response!
Me just sitting here.

I wanna play Code Name Viper.
Switch 2 isn't a success?
I think GTA 2 had a fart/burp button too!
Well... the mouse controls are decent enough. To me, Switch to Switch 2 is like Nes to Snes but the Snes can play Nes games this time.
Do you really think nintendo gets a pass for anything in 2026?
I think we should get Ubisoft to make another star fox game.
Gonna need From Software to get the Elden Ring Switch 2 edition up to code. I'm getting the urge to play it again and I don't have an xbone anymore.
I have. It has some good ideas but ultimately, after multiple attempts - it isn't for me. I'm still in a game I like but not because of the engine. I want to see the game through to the end.
My first ttrpg wasn't even d&d. It was a home brew my older brother made. If we are talking about commercial games - Shadowrun 2nd edition.
We were poor so generic systems also were important. Later, West end games D6 System and Big Eyes Small Mouth got a lot of play.
Amazing!
We deserve an Alundra 1 re-release. All platforms. No man left behind. #videogames
To be snarky, the post that this is based on said if they want to play a game with more rules they would just find a board game. If I wanted a game with next to no rules, I'd just look for free form storytelling and not play a role playing Game. Lotta people hate the game part of rpg.
If the rules say you can't make a jump, then players need a different way around the gap. Do you use magic? Do you fashion a make shift bridge? Do you take the long way around and risk time? Additional problem solving could be fun for some players, rather than just hand waiving everything.

My issue with mostly narrative ttrpgs is consistency. In my experience, narrative games have a higher chance to leading to unfair outcomes based on the outside factors (player popularity, etc), not the characters ability. Good rules can lead to emergent story telling in some cases. For example:
That game is a ton of fun π
I really want this version
Ugh that sucks. Here's to hoping for some kind of deals in the future someday π
Toy company gotta toy company. I will be skipping it too.
"I'm sick of companies making the same IPs and not innovating or making new games."
Did you buy Giga Wrecker? Tembo? Little Town Wrecker?
I bet not.
#videogames
That's insane π³
Do other consoles get that pricy too?
Only if people Boycot other companies for similar things.
