I think that’s a disingenuous read. People have a problem with UB art mostly when it clashes so unbelievably hard with 30 years of Magic’s largely aesthetic. The complaints about LOTR, FF, and even things like Avatar or Fallout were much different in tone to spider-man/turtles and much less frequent

saying that a mechano-hell body horror set doesn’t adhere to beauty standards sounds like being purposely obtuse about people’s issues with art in the turtles set though no?

I think they’re wrong too but with how artists are being treated on UB sets I can imagine a world where even a real artists would check out and use AI for those assignlents

“Quality” being ultimately subjective, I find composition to be unsuccessfully calling back to the original art. Angles no longer make sense and the vibes do not translate. Sword of H and H is i think just poor art direction. cheese doesn’t look like that etc. commanders plate is an actual nightmare

being a parody doesn’t excuse poor quality. Just because something is based on a cool or iconic thing doesn’t mean it’s gets a pass on quality.

Watching community members defend this art is wild, man. To be clear I love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I dressed up as Donatello 4 years in a row for halloween (and random school days) This art does not rise to Magic Quality. It’s ok if something you like (or want to like) is kind of bad.
