When Putin needed pretext for creating "The Red Web", Russia's authoritarian system of online censorship that effectively bans LGBTQ speech, he did it through the EXACT same moral panic about social media and kids that liberals and many leftists are spreading today.

BlueSky is one of the worst platforms I have ever dealt with. Within seconds of creating a second account, after my first one was shut down just two days after it was created, my account was closed again. This happened despite the fact that I hadn’t posted anything or followed anyone. I was only in the process of adding a profile photo, yet I received an email claiming that my account was “spam” and that it was “causing harm.” What kind of logic is this?
The painful truth is that the account was shut down the moment it became clear it was created from inside Gaza. It seems we are no longer allowed to write or speak about what is happening to us here. They are not afraid of content itself, but of our voices and the reality we carry with us.
Millions are spent to silence these voices and to erase the truth. I am exhausted by this platform and by how our photos and videos, which document real suffering, are treated as “violations of community standards,” as if pain itself has become a crime.
What is happening is not simple moderation or policy enforcement. It is an attempt to erase our existence and bury the truth. And honestly, this is shameful and unbearably painful.

A lot of us isolate BECAUSE our environments are hostile. It's not always as simple as "putting yourself out there and just being".
I still go out on occasion, and I used to make myself do it every day because I knew it was good for my physical and mental health, but it should tell you something that in the ~3 months I spent doing that, I came across a total of maybe 20 other people actually using the sidewalk.
I own no car and live in a heavily car-dependent area. There are no parks in walking distance, and all of the places that have a sidewalk for me to use are bustling with traffic at pretty much all hours.
When every choice to be myself outside of my house is an act of bravery, being outside becomes exhausting. I understand that without visibility there will never be acceptance, but I have too much else in my life to manage to oblige myself to take that on as well.
Not all of us live in places where it is safe or worthwhile to do this
Help me recover my rent and slim stability while actively going through the hardship of a high-chance family loss that I pray does not occur, a recent move, and loss of my ability to ground myself as fast as I want in the trauma.
